A couple of FAQ's to get you started. Don't forget to check the documentation on the project's github page.
Can I install Pinecraft on a distro that has a desktop environment?
No.
Can I use any distro?
No. It has to be a Debian-based distro such as Ubuntu Server or Raspberry Pi OS Lite.
How do I become admin?
See 10:31
How do I add plugins?
Stop your server with ~/minecraft/stop and then place the plugin file in ~/minecraft/plugins folder. Reboot or restart your server.
Does Insert Plugin Name work with Pinecraft?
Pinecraft Installer simply installs Minecraft server. If you chose a flavor that works with said plugin, then yes, it should work – but that has nothing to do with Pinecraft (which is only an installer).
How do I let my friends connect?
I speak about this at 8:54 – of course you'll need some networking knowledge to open the port in your firewall. If you're not sure how to do that, please get a geek friend to help. It can be a security risk opening ports without actually knowing what you're doing. You can play on your LAN immediately by adding your Pinecraft server's local IP address. If you don't know it (weird, since you're ssh'd into it?) type this on your Pinecraft server and look for the INET address that corresponds with your home network (probably starts with 192.168, for example): ip a
Does it have to be a Raspberry Pi 4?
No. But Pinecraft is a new project, and has very little funding thus far. I'm focusing on the Pi 4 since it is powerful enough and can be overclocked, but keeps it so I can focus support on a single device for now. You're welcome to try Pinecraft Installer on other devices, but troubleshooting will be up to you. Just keep in mind you need at least 4 GB RAM, fast media, a decently fast CPU, and a Debian-based distro with no desktop environment. Our Patron-exclusive Pinecraft server is running on Debian 10 in a virtual machine.
I'll add to this list if there are more questions. Please comment after watching the video through since I might have already answered. Thanks for watching!
I'm having trouble updating my server. When I run the sudo ./install command, it brings me to the update screen, but it says "Pinecraft 3.1" when I know 3.2 is the latest version. No matter what I update, it doesn't change. I don't want to have to clear the Pinecraft folder each time I update and thereby lose my world. What is the best solution to this? If I remove my Pinecraft folder, will that also delete the world? Thank you for taking the time to look through this.
how do i start my server
Hi, how can one make raspberry pi off after a while what is no one on the server?
I realy dont like your personality. But your knowleadge are great about networks and pinecraft is GREAT (work perfect even with 12blocks view couple of person) and very thank you for that 😉
Question- Can you made ready and easy pack like that but with easy USB /pendrive/SSD support ?
Or small tutorial how to switch all to SSD. its will help for sure improve stability and dont kill SD fast
hey so ive tried installing every single version of the server software using pinecraft but i always get the issue "*Server Software* appears to have installed, but is not initializing correctly. It is unlikely to work until this is resolved." i have tried rebooting the pi, resetting it and more all didnt work. please help
Edit: The cat5tv team really helped my answer this question and after they helped me I managed to get my server up and running (best thing to do on the raspberry pi)
This started off AMAZING but now whenever I try and install Pinecraft when I get to installing dialogue it just says this:
Installing dialog… Failed. Aborting. Install dialog first.
And I cant work out how to fix this and it is really annoying I also tried multiple times with different sd cards
Something your Github doesn't mention is how much storage such a server will need. I'll be playing with a maximum of 4 people and only have about 3.5 gb free on my Raspberry. Will that be enough or will I need to update its SD card to a bigger one (only came with 12GB). Will that be enough for a server?
I know it a bit late too ask but what do i do when I accidentally exit the spalsh screen?
My server is down is there a way i can turn it back on?
Best tutorial I could find thanks
Is there any reason I can't choose any other version that is not 1.19.2 and there is no forge server installation?
I have just installed minecraft forge using your script, on my pi 4 and was wondering if there was a way to "detach" and "re-atach" so i can check performance on the pi so that i might be able to allocate more ram to the server? It seems to me that I cannot press ctrl -A -D to detach back to the terminal screen.
walter is that you
Thanks! This was very useful. How can i uninstall it in case?
1.19.2 服务器运行正常 @pi400 THX
I love how the raspberry pi community is so good at making cool things like this.
This guy look so nice 🙂 Thank you for making pinecraft
if pinecraft goes belly up wouldn't I lose my builds?
Well done . Once got Ubuntu to run headless on my first raspberry pi server pinecraft worked like a charm. FYI. In my case the game type selection came be for the server version !
I am trying to play with a friend on this server, but for some reason he can't connect to the server. I have the whitelist down, and the max player count is over 1, so I can't quite figure out what's going on. I am in the latest Pinecraft release as of me posting this. What should I do to troubleshoot it?
Could you add purpur, a way lighter version to the server list? Purpur is lighter and more stable then paper
how do you add mods to the server's mods folder??
YOUR INTRO IS POGGERs are you waltah white?
