Farfetch'd was a personal design favorite for Gen 1 but yeah had terrible typing and moveset. Plus it didn't help that it was only available as a in game trade.

I thought swords would have guaranteed the run past that point
are those yellow pokemon sprites and colors, but blue/red trainer and pokemon levels and arrangements? Interesting. And yeah, farfetch'd does surprisingly well, and it's mostly because of swords dance (and agility?), as well as not being hard walled by ghosts by virtue of having access to non-normal type moves
