I used to hardly be able to use ball cam, but it really helped when I learned how to use it
Tbh I've been making my way through unranked to silver to plat the last three months (been playing longer, but had a 2 year hiatus lol) in both duos and ones and I still have a lot of beginner issues like not realizing threats and having the worst aerial defense for saves. Training packs? EZPZ even the uncomfortable saves & shadow defense packs are easy because they basically set you up in a way where you can make the save, but actually doing that in a match. Yikes. Now I'm in the uncomfortable position where I am pretty good on powershots, offense, and ground dribbling but my other set of skills is so bad that I either completely crush my opponent (usually them not expecting me to make a shot from distance or being able to punish) or get super-stomped (every other scenario). Basically I should be low gold overall I think, but am in Plat II because of a few decent mechanics… kinda feelsbad because I let my teammates down on easily defendable shots on our goal and bad 50/50s just to name a few things. And for some reason I keep making the same damn mistakes when under pressure . It gets in my head and the second I notice it I play horrible.
So… guys if you ever get matched with me: I'm sorry, I'm trying – I really am. But I'll probably be either the best or worst (and possibly both at the same time) teammate you'll encounter and I'm not doing it to troll you guys. I'll get better one day…

For the tip about giving away the ball, I think people do that a lot cuz, they aren't confident enough to dribble and flick, or do a hook shot, or something like that. This happens more in the lower ranks cuz there's a lack of car and ball control. And I don't blame them. I kinda do the same thing. I'm working on it though.

Tip #8 : Not understanding space…. Space is hard tho. Whateven is dark matter? And how does entanglement even work?

Mistake #3 really hits a homerun. This mistake isn't only a problem in the lower ranks but higher ranks as well. Can't tell how many times i've played with and against people who can do stuff like ceiling shots like its nothing but when it comes down to basic aerial or basic attack/defence movements, they drop the ball hard.

Plat 2 here currently. To get through gold I had to play borderline ball-chaser because it felt like I was playing more 1 v 5 since my team would frequently steal the ball from me while I was pushing it. But getting into play I realized that even my basic controls aren't that great.
Currently learning how to have better rotations and dribble properly. Even if everyone else in plat just wants to be in the air.

A lot of these mistakes can be said in one word BALLCHASERS!! Dont know rotations, dont know how to use boost, never ready, no space common sence and more than that
The "skipping the basic to flashy mechanics" is the most OUTRAGEOUS thing I have done when I first opened rocket league, but i quickly learned that this things should not be learned when your new to the game, so I quickly learned rotations and fast aerials while ignoring those flashy mechanics.
