Rao, should check the descriptions on the grid, each character has a description of their genre
15:53 It's funny you say that since it's currently the 10th anniversary of your playthrough of ASMBXT
You missed warios text/description after beating him (i have no idea if it's different)
"How are these people friends with you?!"
"Making a LOT of assumptions right now."
-DBZ Abridged, Ep. 38
There's something amusing about Mario being the generic voiceless rival character recurring in these games.
Despite the sequel hook, "Top twenty-five video game file types" unfotunately got cancelled after the first part due to inventors swimming in sky.
I'm all in favor of going the 100% route, but some minigames might be more unreasonable than other… I suggest consulting with the "people in the know" about that.
I was waiting to see raocow's reaction to winning the eye laser dropper game. It was worth the wait.
You really need to try all those bonus games you've been unlocking!
Wow, never seen somebody fail the Wario shirt game the complete opposite way.
i absolutely love the final stages in warioware games. the fact that everything is wario is so unexplicably funny
this one's also really fast which is kinda spooky
Just be careful with the medals. I've never played this game so I don't know how hard it gets. I just know that you have a habit of pushing games beyond a natural end point and that it often corrupts your opinion of the game. The second you start to feel the medal hunt grinding on you, please stop. Don't push yourself.
10:27 "I'm Matt"
Considering you'll know what you'll be facing beforehand, you can crank out those medals pretty quickly – just make sure to check how many points you need first :Y
Yeah "Run, dummy!" is probably my least favorite command in the entire game. Even after knowing what button to press I'm not entirely sure what constitutes if it works or not. Mario Wiki says I only need to press the button X amount of times but I always end up having to press it way more than that
I feel like Wario's "Stop Me" is actually a cry for help…
Fun fact: My first time playing the Wario stage, I made the exact same mistake you did, laughed, and turned the game off because I genuinely thought the game ended on an impossible boss stage as a joke. I interpreted "Run, dummy!" as a gag where the game's calling you stupid for just standing there because you couldn't actually run. I figured this would be the type of game where they might have some sort of meta joke like that because it wasn't intended to ever be beaten, and it was fitting that Wario would be too lazy to actually finish his boss stage. I thought it was a funny way to end the game and only found out later that there was more to the game after looking up how to get the remaining unlockables.
Yeah, this game's a blast! Thanks for play, and for finally giving me the excuse to play as well!
Also, crazy to think Wario runs faster than Mona. He must have taken lessons from Eggman.
(2:09) Alright, it's time for the final Wario microgames to begin!
(2:11) 9-Volt's not the only one with retro-inspired games here. Also, it's possible to collect the coin by bopping the platform it's on from below, just like in the original Mario Bros. game.
(2:18) Omnomnom.
(2:24) And yes, we get intro stage reruns too, and they're all at level 3.
(2:31) Pinball is just so silly. You pass as long as you don't lose any balls between the flippers.
(3:04) It feels to me like the speed increases more than usual with the first speed up here.
(3:13) In this Super Mario Land game, make sure Mario doesn't get the mushroom while you're going for it.
(3:28) Ohh… Banana boat miss…
(3:35) "You're too slow!"
(3:52) Aha, you finally got a "Dodge?" on this one! It's an automatic win if you get it. Sorry, the shark doesn't feel like coming at you this time.
(4:07) Welp, you dropped the ball on that one.
(4:43) Ohh… Banana boat hit!
(4:54) Welp, if you hadn't failed this one in a dumb way in Kat & Ana's stage, this would've been your first failure of it here.
(5:08) Wario Excitebike FTW.
(5:42) With the second speed up here, it really gets crankin'.
(5:54) Aww… I was hoping you would succeed at that "rerun".
(6:05) You'll see if you get it right.
(6:42) I'm not aware of any real tell. You just gotta react and hope.
(6:56) ZAP! Yes, that one's hilarious.
(7:35) First time getting to the boss game. This one is quite involved. Let's see how well you do…
(8:05) If you take too long to attack the red object, it'll split into a pretty much unavoidable spread of tiny bullets that will kill you.
(8:51) If you miss any of the batteries, you will unavoidably die at the red wall up above. But, if you get them all, you'll automatically smash it.
(8:57) Alright, it's final boss time, vs. the evil red square!
(9:04) Who wants pancakes? …Yeah, that wasn't the best way to move.
(9:20) LOL, how'd you screw that up? Well, we got to see what happens if you let Mario get the mushroom.
(9:28) Alright, it's rematch time! Try tossing your super awkward diagonal boomerang at a nearby wall.
(9:38) Scored a hit.
(9:51) Scored a second hit. If the rebound is good, it's possible to strike multiple times with one boomerang toss.
(9:57) Scored a third hit. Victory! But, this boss game isn't over yet…
(10:09) "Run, dummy!" In order to run, dummy, you have to mash A. Yeah, I figured you'd fail there, trying to move with the D-pad instead. Would've been nice if the game gave you a little flashing "A" prompt above Wario's head at the start of that sequence.
(10:35) Oh, what? Wow, I've never had that happen before. So, the animation of Wario throwing the boomerang can apparently cause him to get hit by the boss if you're that close.
(10:45) Chipmunk time.
(11:52) Reached the boss with three lives this time.
(12:41) Alright, it's rematch time again!
(12:56) Man, that was so close to scoring a double hit, but the red square darted out of the way at the last instant.
(13:07) Red square defeated once again. Now… Run, dummy!
(13:19) Yep, gotta mash A here.
(13:31) Victory! And that's game!
(16:56) Yeah, there's still a lot of holes for you to fill.
(17:22) Don't just do nothing. Press A to lock in your janken hand.
(18:23) Failed to catch the radish.
(18:55) Derp!
(19:08) Wait, what? That's a fail? That looked good to me, game.
(19:37) Whoops, pulled down too much and ripped Wario's shirt.
(20:15) First time reaching level 2.
(20:38) Yeah, the intro game reruns are already locked in at level 3.
(21:13) LOL, nice one. BTW, it's possible for both the ball and yourself to fall into the hole at the same time if you pushed at a weird angle. I think the game still counts that as a success.
(21:57) Bonk.
(22:04) Starting at level 2, Mario shows up to try and make your life miserable in Wario Bros. here. Don't let him get the coin.
(23:10) Yeah, show that green apple who's boss!
(23:20) At higher levels, the shirt rips more easily if you overdo it.
(23:51) I forget if it's possible to fall off. If it is, you don't want to.
(24:04) Mastered thumb wrestling right away. And, that was the last microgame you needed!
(24:08) I feel like Wario's hand really should stay out for a couple frames longer on this one. Oh, well.
(24:16) Since you've seen all the microgames, you've unlocked Pyoro!
(24:48) To unlock two of the three missing things, look at the new pigs. The third unlock requires getting a medal on every single microgame on the game grid, which you're already aware of.
I also saw the Wario sprite, Wario64 was one of the "googoo" characters known for upsets on saltybet. Yes I dislike that I know these terms
no, but if you try to medal all 213 microgames, you will go insane. Please, for your own sanity, just do the bonus levels, then the minigames, then get a save file with all the medals. You'll appreciate it more that way.
Raocow I think something is wrong with your copy, the game isnt supposed to go THAT fast at 10:45
Good job beating it though
Congratulations, you've unlocked an alien invasion!!
oh wait, no, that's just the staff of Nintendo R&D 1
So I never owned this game as a kid. I rented the GCN multiplayer party game "version" a few times, but never played the OG at all. I did, however, own the sequel: Wario Ware Twisted
And the final set of minigames in that game kicked my ass incredibly hard, the boss stage especially. I'm glad to see that the ass-kicking courtesy of Wario was still alive and well in the first game too.
Today raocow answers the age old question: a hot dog is in fact a sandwich
The song at 14:29 is literally the Hotel Horror song from Wario Land 4! I never noticed that before!!
Oh. I thought Wario man was in this release. I guess he debuts in a later entry.
A part 1
oh thank goodness, I thought the laser eye was level three of Squirt but it may in fact be unique to Final Wario, I'm so glad Raocow saw it
Warioware is the kind of game you can definitely burn yourself out on, so I would recommend the moment you decide "ah, this isn't fun anymore", just call the series done. You've beaten it, you don't need to unlock Absolutely Everything, maybe just show off some of the side modes and let it sit. Nothing burns you out more than just mindlessly shoving microgames down your gullet past the point of entertainment.
Doh, I missed!
The Wario ware games are fun enough I actually medaled all the games in each one once. Now I just keep a backup of 100% save files. I really recommend trying to play twisted in some with motion controls capacity that one ended up being my favorite.
The idea of completing all the grid games is very bad, but I would ask you to go for the weinermobile/sausage one. I believe it's the first one.
The reason is, you know how there are variations where cars stop, jump, and one where you don't have to do anything? There's one more half-joke variation you haven't seen! Unfortunately, it's one of the few microgames that has this kind of variety, but if people know of any more, I think compiling a list of like 5-10 different ones that actually have more content to them would be neat
Squirt? is a fave of mine
10:32 is ridiculously mean of the game, why does your hitbox extend to the front D:
