Nothing from official Nintendo comms yet but this story from Japanese player recovering their Save data is encouraging for the rest of us.
This is fantastic news, hopefully others affected by this nasty save data corruption bug can all get their saves back! Thank you for putting this out there, as no one else has mentioned the issue (that I know of) itself since it's gone "off trending". I do still find it odd though that there's been no official statement from the Pokemon Company, or anything that mentions this particular bug in the notes for the next update. Now it has been a while since I read them, so it's possible that something was added, I don't know. I remember them addressing things like the bad egg, but not the save file corruption issue.
Anyways, I hope they patch the issue as a whole, and don't put off fixing it just because it's not affecting everyone. I know it's dramatic, but I've stopped playing the game as a whole for a bit until this issue is resolved, not one for losing 300+ hours of progress lol.
If i had to hazard a guess, from this new info it could be a problem with switch lites. I noticed that the Jpn user had one in the vid. If its mostly just tied to the lite consols it might be a defect in the hardware performance.
Tho that is just my speculation.
I'm glad that it is getting fixed I hope that those who had their save data corrupted will be able to get their save data recovered

Haven't touched the game since news submerged about this glitch. I get that only 100 or so known cases exist. But the thought of losing hundreds of hours is a scary prospect nonetheless. It's baffling how they haven't fixed this yet.
This is why you put your save data in the cloud! Stay safe with your pokémon adventures, trainers.
Appreciate the update, though if you want some advice from a random nobody on the internet I would stay away from blaines, I cant even call it a controversy at this point, its a fact. he spreads misinformation online knowingly, and he gives out hacked Pokémon getting himself and his viewers banned, under the false pretence that they are not hacked. then when asked about it on stream he just acts like a toxic 12 year old and insults people. "yeah well I slept with your mother" seems to be his favourite response to people asking why he lied to them and got them banned from Nintendo online. The very thought of him makes me sick.
If my save data gets deleted I will storm Nintendo 😂😭
I’m glad there seems to be a silver lining for those who lost their saves. I do wish they allowed cloud saves. It doesn’t make sense.
Losing your save data is absolutely awful and I know I would be devastated. Good to hear some people are able to recover their save data. Honestly it could be anything as you said. Hopefully the April patch can fix or address it
As always thanks for the coverage on this stuff. I'd be completely unaware if it wasn't for you and other people.
So I had the same problem with my copy of Violet. The first person on Nintendo Support had me clean the corrupted data through my settings, and that got rid of the error message, but it also fully deleted my game data, since my game was on cartridge on not on download. So I was told they can under no way restore my data, I've tried contacting them about it again. They also told me there was nothing they could do to "make up" for the situation, since I'll never be able to get the raid pokemon and events and things that I've lost.
There is absolutely no reason for Nintendo to refuse to allow cloud save for Pokemon. The fact that they would rather risk people losing their save data than have cloud backup is bullshit.
I have not played the game since then. Only I played to catch Decidueye.
Awesome news, if they're able to fix the corruption maybe they can use data from the corruption to find the cause

Wow, I can't believe it. I never expected them to be able to do this, but now the people who lost their data will have a fix for their problem.
it would be nice if that at the very least gave the option to back up your save to a SD or to the cloud.

hey! thanks for the update. i dobt quite understand, though : i want the dlc, but if i get it, is there a change this could happen to me? ive seen some reddit threads concerning this.
The update made the glitch due to ai's being spawned when they weren't supposed to and when they spawned it crashed their game and deleted their data that is why
This just shows that we need cloud save for our Pokémon games
I’m just not taking the very minimal risk and waiting for a software update fixing all these issues to then buy the DLC
This is exactly why we need cloud backup capability for Pokemon games. No game is perfect, and tons of games have a save corruption issue somehow at some point. And not even just that, if you have to get a new Switch for any reason at all, your saves are just gone. It really never made sense.
Hearing news about save data getting corrupted really worries me and honestly makes me not want to play until an update comes out
This brings me hope, I've been playing my scarlet save which I have no problems with because I feel like my violet account is at a risk of corruption because of me buying the dlc.
Hopefully they get it fixed by the end of April.
It would be nice if they learnt from looking through that save file to put out a fix.

Did I forget to mention how glad I am I didn't buy these games? 😆 Geez! I don't even think the infamous Sonic 06 nor Sonic Boom where this terrible! O_o
I have the same issue. Unfortunately the Nintendo support in Germany told me that my Gamefiles are gone and cannot be fixed. I have to start a new game. Hopefully I can get a full refund for the game and the dlcs.

I want to play the game so bad but I don’t want to lose everything I’ve done in it, I’ve seen so many different people go into and they are fine but I can’t risk it. I hope the new update fixes this!
Since pokemon scarlet and violet's save data has been corrupted due to reservations of the dlc and connectivity with pokemon go….
