This is very situational and not just for long distances. Sometimes your shoulsnt flip sometimes you should its not right to never flip when rotating

This is one of those bad habits that are turned in lower ranks. Another one that starts around diamond is trying to air roll during every aerial.
Also flipping in pro play makes it very easy to be demoed. Retals, Comm, Arsenal and other top demoers will love it when someone flips because they know they can get the demo off since the car cannot dodge the attempt
This is a common problem with 1s mains since you can get away with/ need more flips in that gamemode relative to any other
