Do people remember how much blowback nintendo got when they made it known that Zelda was gonna be 70$? Well all that blowback seems to be hot air because it didn't stop it from selling really well at all. So the discussion on price of games becomes is 70$ worth it for triple A games? Is it worth it if the game is very good and well polished? Or should the price of games be judged by a case by case basis?
To say I'm impressed feels like I'd be thinking it surprising, but having put many into hours into this game so far, I'm definitely not surprised, it makes so much sense, this game is freaking amazing ❤
If Breath of the Wild sold 30 million in 6 years, and Tears of the Kingdom sold half that amount in less than 2 weeks… Where will sales be in 6 years? There's no way it won't outsell BotW, it's just a matter of time.
Summer is gonna be big for sales too mind you. Easily 40mil at the end of the year if not excessively more
Wow, this "DLC" sells kinda good, huh? Who even saw that one coming
Thanks for the video!
I don’t fully agree with your contention that repeat buying of the game due to an upgraded switch release should be downgraded. Consider that I have paid C$100 price tag (I live in Canada) I paid for an e-copy of TOTK and am looking forward to the opportunity to replay the game on upgraded hardware with the associated performance enhancements. So in this case, the cost game will also have to factor in at least a portion of the new platform cost.
The game is selling well but it's kinda sad to know that pkmn SV will have more sales.
It took Breath of the Wild 2.5 years to sell +15 million copies. Let that sink in.
15 million units sold on ONE CONSOLE is insane.
TOTK 🎉🎉🎉
video starts at 2:25 btw
A lot of people are waiting for the price drops. Most shops don't even have copies left! It's out of stock in most shops I went to! Take that in consideration! xD
I think totk can do 20 mil copies easily by the end of 2023. Maybe even 25 million. There are lots of people who have to wait until their birthdays or until holidays to get games, and there are also hluseholds that have multiple switch users. This game is gonna keep selling.
Nintendo MUST reveal digital sales. It only bolsters the investors and gauges the health of the industry. I am absolutely sure more copies were sold digitally. They need to show the world they are still king at gameplay.
My assumption is a Switch successor will launch in the next 12 months. With it will be the ToTK DLC and a graphics/performance patch. If that happens it’ll juice sales too as TOTK DLC will essentially be a launch title.
I entered the contest. Can't wait to find out who wins! I was at my local GameStop 4.5 hours early just to get a collectors edition 😂 hooked up several switches in the back of my car and had super smash tournament in the parking lot. We all agreed to use only Zelda characters and our GameStop actually gave the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners tshirts it was awesome!!
Great video, Nate! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is definitely THE gaming event of 2023. And in a year where the competition has been fierce with a wide variety of titles, that’s even more impressive. Close to $1.1b for the title, 15 million in sales, and the whole month of June up ahead…Nintendo’s gonna have a wild fiscal report.
Thank you for the quality reporting. Keep it up, @NintendoPrime. 👊
20 million by the end of 2023? Yes.
25 million before Tears' first anniversary? Doable, but that'll depend on how Ninty responds with holiday 2023.
30 million lifetime sales? Potentially; it took Breath 6 years to reach that number – Tears could do that too and more in that timeframe.
It'll get to 30 million, without new hardware.
