They make it sound like smash is all mathematical solutions . But it does have some physics
I am gonna have smash on right stick tilt on left stick
Spent the entire video on the GameCube controller 🤦♂️
Uh man smash is hard the very reason I am watching this video is because I don’t want to do physical damage to myself because I punched myself in the face because some guy beat me at A STUPID VIDEO GAME AND I DON’T WANT TO HAVE SEVERE BRAIN DAMAGE BECAUSE I’M BAD AT FREAKING SMASH OF ALL THINGS!!!!!111!!!!1!!!
I should get some help should I
I do Z jump and XY grab. Took FOREVER to retrain my brain but was honestly the most tangible improvement I've ever felt in Smash. Being able to execute any direction aerial with the C stick without darting your thumb to X to jump is a godsend. Your air mobility feels improved tenfold.
I use tapjump but I use button jump for short hops on a pro controller
Pros commission their own controllers the fuck is he talking about no they don't their controllers gotta be tourney legal.
me: is a beginner and used a pro controller
also me: buys a gamecube controller and loves it
yep still today
Steals your comment
If you change your controls and haven't done World of Light and grinded the Spirit Board (plus Summoning, etc.), it's a pretty good excuse to kill two birds with one stone.
Forty hours of that slog will commit the new scheme to muscle memory, and you will get all the spirits too.
A lot of the World of Light battle mechanics are strange, so it's usually bad for practicing Smash in general. However, for something as basic as (re)learning the control scheme, it's fine.
Making B and Y set to jump makes it immensely easier to short hop. You just have to use your thumb to press both buttons at the same time.
6:25 did they really not talk about Little Mac and smash attacks
I have normal controls except I have tilt stick, stick jump off, and L and ZL both as jump, so if i press both at the same time I can short hop. Also I use the wireless Power A gamecube controller.
Anyone else notice that he was showing a SNES controller when he said NES
I feel kind of dumb for using the default controls minus tap jumping.
There better be someone winning grands with singe joy-con
Quick tip: two jump buttons at once is always a short hop.
I always used smash stick for some reason and have gotten used to it and tilt just doesn’t feel right. Idk. I can’t do f tilts that much but I can decently consistency
I would choose the Switch Pro Controller because it works on all Switch models including the Switch Lite. The GameCube controller will only work on the GameCube, the original Switch and the upcoming OLED Switch.
Wait is that Keith Alan?
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I actually like to map grab to the x button on the gamecube controller, that way my grab is right next to my jump (the y button). I remember my friends always bashing on me for doing this, but idk man it feels faster and more comfortable than hitting z for me.
Ring-Fit Joycon Controler Ring is Optimal
In the last few weeks I have really been digging the double joy con controller attachment
His tone is so proper I honestly can't tell if he is giving advice on controllers or trying to sell me a controller.
I set my attack button to y a long time ago because most of the games I played at the time used x on Xbox to attack or y to attack on switch. I haven’t played a single game with that attack since but I’ve kept my control like that since lmao
(I have a set to grab)
What are SD‘s?

You can’t use pro language for guides bro 🤣
Mentions "pros like MKLeo"
> proceeds to show ZeRo in the same second as mentioning Leo
Lessgooo
i actually like the joycons because theyre small. less travel with the joysticks and buttons are close together and less clicky. the bumpers also have little travel too
One day a legend will be born that only uses the donkey Kong drums to win tournaments
Thank you I can now chain 3-4 times with no problem
This is such a gamer thing, to blame air humidity, as if you didn't lose cus you're just worse than your opponent.
Am I the only weird person who likes button grab?
Main problem I have with the pro controller is that the left stick does not have notches. Getting specific angles is so helpful for certain characters
I just wish Nintendo never backed down off the gamecube's face button layout…. soooo much more comfortable for the right thumb then the modern diamond.
Here’s my control map
(I use Dual Joycon, planning to get Pro Controller soon)
Buttons And Analog
R Stick goes on Tilt for me
I have a very hard time trying to move the L stick slowly and knowing when to press attack
On the other hand, Smash Attacks are much easier for me to do and I can input them much faster
R Stick Tilt also helps me dash into Tilt attack, for when I’m playing something like Roy, or really any character with high end lag dash attacks
X is jump for comfort
Y is attack for comfort, and because it’s near jump I can short hop aerial much better and it helps a lot.
A is Special, near jump for the same reason
B I don’t really care about, I just put it on Special if I miss input A, which barely happens.
D pad I don’t use
For L and R/ZL and ZR I put Shield on L and Grab on R for comfort, as of other games I play, like Hollow Knight or Metroid Dread (specifically just Metroid, as you can’t change controls in that game) where L is a movement option while R is a type of attack.
Advanced Settings
Rumble is off but I might turn it on just because I might be able to handle Rumble, but for now it’s off.
Attack + Special Smash attack is off
Stick Jump is off
Stick Sens is on normal, I just don’t see the difference turning it low or high
And I think that’s it.
10:34 sounds like hbox 😂😂
My controls are literally the same as the original but I have y as the grab button
“Mkleo” shows zero
For the gamecube controller are you supposed to use the adapter?
My controls are just default, but no auto-jump, no att-spe smash, a and b as jump, y as att, and x as spe.
Also how do you do a tilt attack?
3 joy cons
He didn’t do a single wave bounce.
pro user here. first thing i did when first playing was remap b and a to jump, y to attack x to special. feels like playing a platformer. you automatically short hop when you press jump with either attack or special.
my gamecube switch controller doesn't even register a 'in use' 🙁
but shield is kinda important
personally, my 8bitdo snes controller is the best i've used. it has dual toggles like most modern controllers, i just prefer the shape since i grew up on snes. if you want something like the snes controller, i'd recommend that.
"It's a lot easier to flick a joystick than a button"
Why, yes. Maybe because the stick can move, perhaps?
