Ein Gedanke zu „Quake Champions – A Classic Modernized?“
Informative. To open a quick tangent out of the unlocks stuff: my feeling on these last ten years is that with the emulation of commercial successes such as cod 4 and others, shooters are now more about role playing a cool dude than being games. They grant advantages based on time played, feature a whole lot of other gimmicks or in this case unlockables. While I find gimmicks fine in single player campaigns, they can be infuriating because of how they affect things once carried to the multiplayer side. That said, we've seen Overwatch doing some cool roleplaying, caring about characters and lore and generally the reasons you mentioned in your video and comments. The way quake champions does it is not clear to me, I haven't spent time checking it out, it looks like an universe featuring a compilation of Id's doom/ quake/ wolfenstein guys. But it's good to hear it plays fine bethesda online stuff aside.
