  1. Great video Matt! Always thought that Sableye would have made for a better Ghost/Rock type instead. It would still be the only one of it's kind, and they could've leaned into the whole 'gem' thing.

  2. Sableye to me just screams developers being too scared of that no weakness. They made the stats suuuper low to prevent it from being a problem then when it didn’t really do anything they made spiritomb with better stats.

Of course these power level concerns would be forgotten about starting with gen 5.

  3. This Gemlin did around aswell as I expected it to do, which obviously wasn’t the greatest, but we need not so OP Pokémon like this to balance out the (early) game and I thought it looked really cool when I played my first playthrough of a main series game, which was Ruby.

I would love to see a Sanqui run with Zigzagoon and/or Linoon seeing how it is my favourite evolutionary line and they’ve got good coverage due to being normal types!

You playing all these Sanqui runs really makes me want to do one myself whenever I get my pc build and you and many other gen 1/2 challenge runners inspire to make me want to make them myself

  4. Great typing and decent moveset ruined by its mediocre stats. I wish Dark type existed in gen 1, Psychic was far too OP, due to the programming error with Ghost types. The battles during recess and lunch at school would have been that much more epic

  5. Sableye might have been one of the worst designed pokemon ever.
It looks interesting and has a cool weird typing, but it's stats are so low that any kid playing with it will just end up boxing it immediately.
