Two tips I have come across for finding cave creatures: Find a cave, place a Save machine just outside, save and reload. Sometimes this makes a ton of the planet’s creatures to spawn around you. It may take a minute after reload. Second, this is almost always a cave near Minor Settlements and other buildings of interest. The cave creatures seem to spawn at a higher rate at in/around these caves at a point of interest.
