21 Gedanken zu „Nintendo Bites Back Against Games Releasing Before Street Date“
  1. the game store where I buy my games and pre/order by now a days on sells the games on release while in the past (atleast with pre-order) you could get it early, nowadays it's just on the release date that was anounced (I live in the netherlands)

  2. I am from England and I have two big points to make regarding 'street date'.
Ever tried downloading a game from the eshop that isn't first party? The games are rarely available to download at the start of the release date. Some games only become available from 2pm onwards, which takes the piss.
My second note. GAME only have the limited edition of xenoblade chronicles 2 for 'buy online, deliver to your home address'. That's right. You can't preorder the special edition for picking up in a store and have to wait for it to arrive HOPEFULLY on day of release. After hearing this street date issue, I worry that I will get my xenoblade chronicles 2 special edition on 1st December… and i've even booked the day off of work for it.
I guess I am trying to say that they are hypocrites and cant even stick to street date on their online store and through their distribution chains.

  3. This feels like a very appropriate response to the issue. Pandemic of breaking street date? Ship to stores closer to street date. Particularly with how hard it is to figure out which store was the issue. NOA cracked down a bit hard on reviewers, but NOE seem to be taking the appropriate steps here.

  4. This is nothing Honorable from Nintendo indie game shops are struggling and who cares if the game is sold early. Nintendo should just simply force an online authorization system so no1 (but approved special previewers) can play the game prior to the release date!

  5. +Nintendo Prime
Nate, I don't agree with you on this; street dates and embargoes for product releases are stupid there!!! if street dates are absolutely necessary there, then they should be no more than a day or two after a video game gets finished in production (only because of the time in which it takes to make the first batch of retail boxes, manuals, etc.). <SMDH>

  6. You know what the biggest problem with a game's street date getting broken, the inevitable jerks who start posting MAJOR BOSS FIGHTS on YouTube, ESPECIALLY for a RPG! The street date is when EVERYONE is supposed to experience the game fresh, but that can't happen if someone gets the game early and decides to post the FINAL BOSS on YouTube. It's gotten so bad that I have to deliberately avoid THUMBNAILS on vid's talking about a game I'm legitimately excited about! There's a REASON why most company's only show the first few areas in any game their trying to push, because once all the surprises of their game are gone most people won't even bother getting a copy for themselves. Posting ANY kind of spoilers hurts the consumer and the company that's trying to sell the game.
