I just fail to grasp why crypto is needed for any of the transactions they're talking about? What does web3 offer that isn't already possible right now? Nothing?
regular osrs player here, in my opinion there are so many bad takes on bots 🙁 spescially from mod matt k. And the other 3 are rs elits that do not reprsent the normal playerbase
I think Mat K is more of a people person then he is a "how the game is supposed to work" person.
He also seems to forget this is a game, and is supposed to be purely for fun. Not for real world trading and crypto users. The price of gold when converted to real life USD or what have you has already been plummeting, with the lack of uses for gold, and making a statement officially allowing real world trading and botting would completely ruin it further. The only reason gp is worth any real usd is BECAUSE it's a blackmarket sort of thing. You're supposed to feel good after you achieve a monumental feat or milestone. That feeling can be completely nonexistent when there are hundreds or thousands of bots that have achieved the same thing and more. Not even a person. A nothing. You're supposed to play this game for the passion, not to compete with real world traders or Venezuelan betting and botting centers.
Mat K sure knows the corporate way to run a business, or how to "future-proof" the game or whatever, but not at all how to keep a game fun or why I keep coming back. He has some real valid points, but I believe he misses the mark on the things I care most about, and I'm glad he's not at the helm at Jagex.
Allowing bots on any level already makes the average player feel like shit when you can, for example: log into the lunar isle bank on any world and view over the course of 10 minutes, 20 different level 90 ranging bots with 10k+ Vorkath kills. And he annoys me when he says botting is absolutely essential to runescape, when that isn't the case even a little bit. It is as anti-Runescape and anti-the soul of what a game is supposed to be; regardless of how long Runescape has been struggling with it. There are several things we could do to fix it. The island of Miscellania could get an expansion, more monsters could drop "boring" items, and Jagex could adjust how much you get or the gathering speed of "boring" items. You don't need soulless bots to get everything. The state of the game is terrible right now because the ONLY way to get big money in Runescape is spam kill raids/bosses, when that isn't what everyone wants to do.
Saying that removing bots would make every player an ironman is an EXTREME (and flat out wrong) take. It would deflate the over bloated economy and make every individual resource more worthwhile and rewarding, while also making it feel better to be a player of runescape, knowing that every kill on a boss or raid you complete, or every long resource grind you do, is actually rewarding both in how it feels to achieve such a thing and the respective rewards it brings.
Bots are, and always have been, the most anti-consumer and anti-video game thing, and every single one should be removed at any cost.
(I stopped watching 50 mins into the bot discussion, I was burned out after listening to it for that long, and since my opinion holds no sway, and no one will even read this comment, I'm dropping out before I sit and wonder when the next segment is going to start. I didn't realize I was only halfway through the video)
I disagree with most of these content creators because they are PK biased, Mat K is right, I wish they would cut PVM from the Wilderness completely. I don't want to PVP, it's not my vibe, I just want to boss. I don't like the feeling of having to watch for some guy to catch me while I'm afk/watching something else, PVP should be a choice. Idc if you disagree, that's normal for every other game that is NOT PVP based.
Once the discussion went from mod trident and onto bots/rwt, all I saw was 4 clowns that had zero idea what they were talking about. As someone who has almost 20k hours into this game I'm glad mod K is gone from the osrs team. Not only was he a big defender of Mod jeb back in the day but he doesn't have the best track record as he was involved in lesser known sus bullshit in both RS2 and OSRS, but now he's shilling crypto? LMFAO
As much as I like the guy, I think Mats opinion about bots being essential for the game absolutely wrong.
Modern bosses drop alot of resources (IM based), often times more then used. The resources would ofcourse increase in price but the loot would also have much more value. Imagion the price of simple things like for example zulrah scales or berserker rings without the countles bots with tens of thousands of kills. And if there would be one resource left out, the gap would be filled with regular players taking the easy money. Basic supply and demand rules. Imagion sharks being very low in supply because of the removal of bots. How many people would start fishing shaks when they are 5k each and make as much money as pvm? Saying an end game pvm'r would have to start fishing for his own sharks, and therefor quit the game is a long stretch.
An even longer stretch is thinking people would flag themselves when starting to bot… What would be the punishment if they don't? You can't even track who is botting now! And if you can track them, why not just ban them?
Matt K having to listen to these guys circle jerk bots are bad was insane. These guys are end game maxed players, why do they need more gp farming pvm vs having gear be more accessible to majority of the playerbase
1:09:01 Stella being the “Hero” isn’t the issue, it’s they are romantically involved and his bias to letting her continue make her loads of money, so it’s not her snitching and them getting bad guys it’s her making shitloads of real money trafficking GP, ETH,BTC USD off this “Team” which is his GF and a Huge Scamming Rat.
forced pvp will always be unpopular lmao. most people who pvp aren't looking for a good fight they looking to ruin someone's day. if the pvpers fun has to come from making someone elses experience less enjoyable its always going to be a issue. I understand the point of the wild i just think in practice it doesn't work for the average pvmer. Pvp would be a lot easier if they allowed keybinds for prayers.
RiceCup I think you should work on your ability to form sentences. Think about what you want to say before starting to talk. 70% of you talking is just filler "you know" "umm" "like". I don't know if it's because in order to be able to talk you gotta be the first one to open their mouth but after a while it gets annoying. Maybe little more respect on each other and let everyone talk so people don't feel like they need to rush with their thoughts to get their voice heard
BUT i get bots are kind of the backbone to the osrs economy. but theres too many right now. you shouldnt have to hop 60+ worlds for a boss and then be crashed after 2 kills by a bot. also if you're anew player you see so many bots its very…. not a good look
Raikesy. Shut up. You just want everything to be a mini game. You would probably want a minigame within a minigame that's in a minigame. Minigame andy.
MintMadCow. Shut up. You just want this entire game to be an NFT. You're the type of dude to lose all your money IRL because you invested all of it on some crypto scam.
My HCIM was perma banned and deleted without the opportunity for appeal for RWTing….HCIM. This company is beyond corrupt and the more they do stuff like this to the dedicated players the faster they will run this into the ground. I have literally never cheated because it's idiotic to cheat…what's the point of playing the game if your going to cheat…. I've played since 02…thanks for helping me break my addiction to RS even if it was due to those guys corruption.
I disagree with what Mod Mat K said about bots. I think that he's coming from a very wise administrative perspective that doesn't want to risk the health of the game, though I don't think people would all of a sudden stop playing Runescape because brews shoot up to 50k, or sharks up to 5k each. I think people will actually start "wanting" to do those things again. There's a reason nobody wants to fish sharks or hunt green swamp lizards: It's a waste of time. You only do it for exp, you make your money doing PVM, which in my eyes is easy to make content for, but ruins the spirit of runescape.
How many bots have bought membership over the years? That is also a lot of revenue for Jagex. Maintaining a healthy bot level, banning some that will rebuy membership on a new bot is very beneficial. (Even if they buy bonds to member a bot, that’s still revenue for jagex)
I think one problem about new players in pvp is everything is about opportunity cost and efficiency these days. They may even have fun doing some non risk pvp, but if it isn’t somewhat equal to mil/hr of something else they can do – a lot of people feel they are not being efficient.
I agree with Matt K. I admit I bot a lot on my GIM. I have little time to play the game but my GIM group are IRL friends. I only bot the skills I hate, so I can do the things I do like faster. I don't support RWT, and I don't think I ruin the game by botting. For me it's making it a nicer experience. It keeps us as friends closer together. In the weekends we meet IRL and do fun things, like bosses or raids. If I would be banned I would not play the game anymore, just because it takes too much time for skilling. Botting fot me is keeping my friends together, which is harder as we get older.
I'm certainly not in the top .5 or even top 5% I'm base 80's quest cape almost max combat and even though I have lots of end game items it seems like my total bank value never increases, yet the end game items I want like tbow keep going up. It feels like an endless hamster wheel no matter how much I farm I never get closer to the big item goals.
I hope you liked this video before you scrolled your self down here…
Trident tweeted that he was promoted to the head of anti cheat, meaning he’s his own boss. Possible he deleted information??
solution… make everyone ironman lol
Bots are not essential for the gsme faded take
I just fail to grasp why crypto is needed for any of the transactions they're talking about? What does web3 offer that isn't already possible right now? Nothing?
If they want to save the economy make the high alch spell have a coin range its just priniting coins on demand
regular osrs player here, in my opinion there are so many bad takes on bots 🙁 spescially from mod matt k. And the other 3 are rs elits that do not reprsent the normal playerbase
They were doing so well in the discussion until they started brought up the blockchain and crypto. Grifters all around.
Fix pride event too. Absolutely no content unless voted for.
I think Mat is onto something with the player owned servers. 30:50
I think Mat K is more of a people person then he is a "how the game is supposed to work" person.

Opening rwt to all and taxing it is a literal w for all love the idea
One of them really doesn't understand economics, "How do we get rid of bots Matt, how, how?". You don't kid they are essential.

RiceCup needs to stop talking over ppl, fucking anoying
RiceCup. Shut up. Let other people talk. Stop chiming in random word vomit.

Osrs passed the stage of "just a game " to be "your oasis" where u can find refuge after a day of work, even for a few minutes.

Honestly, they need more player mods. There’s not that many worlds.
