50 Gedanken zu „How Fast Can You Beat Pokemon Red/Blue with Just a Voltorb?“
  1. This is just one of those pokémon that remind us that the games were originally designed to be single-player experiences (Nintendo was smart to pressure Game Freak into including multiplayer.) Surprising players and moving first to go boom are basically what the Voltorb line does best. At least Electrode has a competitive niche inflicting paralysis better than anything else.

  2. I like that you brought up Scott's Thoughts and Jrose as your examples because those are the only other solo run content creators I watch lol but I like your videos more, glad I found your channel ☺️

  3. The infographics, especially the ones for the moves like the one for Sonicboom, look so good. They look super retro, like something you'd see in a Pokemon strategy guide or a magazine back when Pokemon Red was new

  4. Can’t remember who, but I found you through another Pokémon challenges YouTuber who dropped your name. I really enjoyed listening to you go into Voltorbs design and mimics. Can’t wait to see how much you grow

  5. When you spend your childhood playing Dragon Quest and Estpolis Denki (or basically the entire Lufia series), you get to quickly learn what Mimics are. If you come unprepared against these in either series, you're getting the shit kicked out of you balls to the wall. Dead serious, it's not uncommon to get your first party wipe to them. Furthermore, I've seen many a Lufia 2 Ancient Cave speedrun end because of these menaces. Because of that, the idea of Voltorb and Electrode… do not really bother me.

  6. Thanks for addressing the point of voltorb being a mimic. Idk how this isnt understood especially when you go into the power plant and think youre picking up an item, just to be greeted with a ‘bzzz bzzz’

  7. I was in a similar situation where I never really like voltorb and electrode until I realized they were mimics. They've since had a place of honor in my "gimmick mon" playthroughs for being the gimmick thaat nobody remembers 🙂

  8. I like the mimick explanation, but honestly liked something like Swudowoodo better in Gen 2, maybe if they gave the balls hands or sharp teeth I'd have liked it but for me a bit too boring. Totally right they should have put this in earlier in the game and on the core path, power plant is out of the way

  9. I think this run is going to be a long one even for not fully evolved pokemon. When you can't use Thunderbolt, Voltorb's power tanks. It has to use it's weaker attacking stat with no STAB. Ground types and even more so Rock/Ground types like Rhydon and Onix are going to be struggles. This might be one of the few times where Bruno poses a little bit of a challenge just because he has 2 Onix.

Edit: Oh right. Mimic. Forgot about that.

  10. the fact that voltorb gets take down but not double edge is indeed asinine like you said lol. woulda helped. i also think voltorb gets too much shit for its design, its like a mimic. fun video man

  11. Love this one. 100% You giving this one the benefit of the doubt and standing up for this little guy is why you're my favorite poketuber.

They all have their own flavor (even if it's ear wax flavored) and deserve a shot. Lol.

  12. You make a fair case for Voltorb's design and I definitely appreciate its design a lot more now. But I disagree with the Sudowoodo argument. That can't really be considered a double standard because even though the design was inspired by trees, it very distinctly doesn't look like a tree. If it was nothing but a tree with a face on it, then you'd have a point because Voltorb is essentially just a pokeball with a face. But Sudowoodo's design has more to it than simply being a tree with a face.

  13. I am "very offended" by the choice to not include channel members at video's end! 😂. JK man – your reasoning makes sense, and I just had to say something – with everyone just wanting to whine about something now days.

This was one of my favorite runs so far – much to my surprise. It was so interesting, and Voltorb exceeded my expectations. The best part was the Light Screen + Reflect tactics though. I haven't seen anyone else do that, and I used to roll with that strategy back in the day – especially with weaker Pokémon in Stadium.

Lastly, I found this out watching your Clefairy stream, but Roll Tide Brother 🐘🐘🐘!

  14. #PokeballStrikesBack! Haha cant wait to see how this video turns out, I've always loved the voltorb line. Simple, yet great! Much like a lot of gen 1 pokemon. Anyways keep up the great work matt! ❤😁
PS love the sprites for damaged and fainted, and idk when you added it but seeing the enemies stats was pretty cool too. Overall really loving the layout, looks nice and colorful, easy on the eyes, and has like all the info you could need

  15. I enjoyed your little fireside chat about mimics. I've never been bothered by Voltorb and Electrode's designs for the same reason. The woodgrain and chisel marks on the Hisuian versions in particular are some nice subtle details that most people seem to have missed.
