Farigiraf could always end up somewhat similarly like Electivire in terms of stat distribution. Electabuzz is more of a special attacker than physical attacker but when it evolves, its evolution prefers physical power. So, I wouldn't be surprised if Farigiraf were to get a huge Atk increasement. In any case, I'm with you that Armor Taill will most likely be the go-to ability for Farigiraf, unless this Pokémon has some cool surprises for us in store to make Cud Chew (situationally) more worthwhile. Can't wait to see how this mon will fare in VGC.
People who are more excited for cud chew than armor tail: “Gee, is that a wagyu beef steak? Oh no no, I don’t want a bite, I had McDonald’s for lunch so I’m good!”
I am so excited for Farigiraf. Farigiraf will inherit Girafarig's awesome movepool while improving it's just ok stats to becoming useful. Cud Chew will definitely be it's go to ability in VGC. With redirection and protect, Farigiraf will have all the support it needs to boost and recover hp making the most of berries.
In singles, depending on how good Farigiraf speed stat is, Armored Tail may be preferred. If Farigiraf retains a solid speed stat above 70, it will be able to deal with revenge kills like Mach Punch Breloom, Aqua Jet Azumarill, Sucker Punch Bisharp and many others. The only way to beat it in that case is to live a hit if your slower and retaliate with a strong move or being naturally faster than it. If farigiraf is the complete hault to prankster and priority moves in VGC, it will be insane.
I could see Cud Chew being used in singles on sub boosting strategies against stall. If Girafarig and Farigiraf both get stored power, they can both make the most use of their great boosting movepools.
While Girafarig likely see much use in VGC even with eviolite, it will be a decent low tier mon. Eviolite finally gives it the opportunities to boost it's stats without fearing OKs from powerful neutral hits.
I think it’s speed is going to go down and it’s atk-def and sp atk will go up. The ability’s r pretty much like ripen/harvest and queen majesty so idk if it’s more defensive it will be a good trick room user sadly it’s still weak to incer
Just a note: I was curious on what Farigiraf's stat totals would be so I did some digging.
Girafarig has 455 base stat points. I also noticed Primeape (another pokemon getting an evolution this gen) also has 455 base stat points.
Gamefreak typically looks to pokemon with similar stats in order to figure out what stats new evolutions should have. For example, Magmar (495) and Electibuzz (490) both got base (540) evolutions imitating Chansey's gen 2 evolution to Blissey (540).
Which leads me to this. Girafarig and Primeape have another 455 base stat brother in Golbat. Golbat (455) already has an evolution. It evolves into crobat which has 535 base stat points.
So both Primeape's yet unnamed evolution and Farigiraf likely will have a 535 base stat point distribution
“Pseudo Mixed Attacker Syndrome”… when an attacking stat is only 10-15 off from the other instead of a defense stat so it suffers from frailty and indecision of which to use
The wording of Armor Tail is totally weird. I mean, the name implies it is protecting the owner but it says it is making opponents unable to use priority moves, while Queenly Majesty and Dazzling imply external influence but actually protect the owner's side, not the other way around.
So uh… this Pokémon is going to dramatically shift gameplay depending on what “priority” means. If a Pokémon can’t redirect or protect… this is beyond crazy
I can't agree with your assessment of Armor Tail vs Cud Chew. Armor Tail is situational at best, and depends on your opponents having priority moves, but they are still capable of kicking your ass if they don't have them or don't use them. But with Cud Chew and protect, you can use your sitrus berry to significantly up your survivability.
With Armour Tail's differences in wording from Queenly Majesty, I think it's important not to compare it to Showdown!'s descriptions which are completely different from the official ones and very exactly what things mechanically do. Comparing it to the actual descriptions of Queenly Majesty and Dazzling both in-game and on Pokémon's website, it's a bit more similar. "Its majesty pressures the opposing Pokémon, making it unable to attack using priority moves." "Surprises the opposing Pokémon, making it unable to attack using priority moves." Although the interesting thing with both of these is that they do actually say "attack using priority moves" and not "use priority moves." So it might be weird simplified wording for the blog-style page, or maybe it hard stops all of them! I think with the flavour of the ability, being able to "detect danger in an instant" and using its tail to protect itself, it makes the most sense to act like Queenly Majesty. To me it's going to at least be an amazing ability like Queenly Majesty and going to become a mainstay on my teams. If it ends up being crazy broken, that'll be kind of crazy.
I wonder how cud chew would work with fling. Like use salac berry fling to proc policy and get a speed boost and then another speed boost the following turn.
Farigiraf is 99.9999% going to be on my team for my first play through of the game. I’m absolutely in love with him. I highly doubt that there are going to be more then 5 new Pokémon that I’ll like better then Farigiraf(obviously the starter is taking up my 6th slot) Also major potential spoilers below. Please continue at your own risk. You have been warned.
‼️This is your last warning. ‼️
Apparently it’s been leaked(by a very very credible source) that Prineape is not only returning in the game. But is receiving a evolution. And it’s typing is Fighting / Ghost.
If this is happens and depending on it’s design. It will more then likely have a spot on my team as well.
Although I’m wondering how it would evolve? iirc Mankey evolves at Lv40(please correct me if I’m wrong.
I’d almost imagine that it would use a duck stone.
Although it could be a trade evo while holding a specific item as well.
i expected better than this level of fear mongering mr boosted.
here is how tsareena’s ability was described in its official reveal 6 years ago.
“The effects of Queenly Majesty are so intimidating that it prevents opponents from using priority moves.”
people similarly overreacted then.

If the picture is to be believed Rest will have 5 PP instead of 10. Poor singles players.

Something else worth discussing is Girafarig’s viability with eviolite.
OK, but girafarig gets recycle, so cud chew gonna be broken
I want a move tutor that teaches me the ways of marcos incorperating memes in his vocabulary seemlessly
Farigiraf feels a bit like Female Indeede at home
QOTD: toxic as it was a good move to slap on a mon and i dont want to have to transfer old mons
Qotd: elemental punches just because they’re fun in game

I can't wait to see this thing's stats be completely underwhelming and kill all the hype.
I’m going to guess it loses speed and gets bulk and both attack stats boost
Obviously the biggest change to competitive revealed in this trailer is that you can now change your character’s eye shape.
“Pseudo Mixed Attacker Syndrome”… when an attacking stat is only 10-15 off from the other instead of a defense stat so it suffers from frailty and indecision of which to use
I think it will get slower
Legends: Arceus isn't gen 9, it is gen 8
imagine a new item similar to lagging tail but which removes priority on moves and people actually running it, just to use protect against farigiraf
aye bro, i cant find that beat, link me up pls
Lets hope this evo is good, GF needs to go all out on powerhouse mons

Imagine Nintendo sneak in game payments in so you can quick craft TMS 😅 I laugh but it's not crazy with Pokémon go raid passes and the SS DLC

According to the trailer: At lvl33, Farigiraf has 122hp… Doing the math, it means 120 base HP (similar to Arceus and Bewear).
What about moves with a negative priority. That could also be a big factor and game changer for Pokémon utilize for set up
I just assumed it was Queenly Majesty/Dazzle
lmao they wanted bruxish to be used in competitive but it didnt get used enough, so theyre just trying to remake the ability but have it buffed
