I have beaten SMB3 a dozen times or so in my life. Not to mention it being my favorite Mario game as a child.
Yet I didn't know the anchor was even an item until watching this video.
Maybe a new category can be called "Secret Run"
– All 3 Warp Whistles
– One Coin Ship per available world (Grass, Water, Sky, Ice)
– All White Mushroom Houses
I think the %99.9 category could be done. All levels , All hammer bros, All spade cards, All mushroom houses( minus the one that can't be completed by players choice). I know it could take a while. But I think it's a good run
I feel like 100% runs should require defeating the farther Bowser.
You’re right, the hammer bros coin ship is totally a stage, it’s not an inn/store like the mushroom houses. Maybe it’s time you create the 110% category.
If you P Wing Bowser’s castle you can go to the close harder Bowser and fly over the wall to the father easier Bowser. I don’t think you can fight both Bowsers though, I think once he appears the screen scrolling locks.

I hope it does pick up, this I always thought should’ve been 100% while current should be all levels.
I love the concept of this sub-category. I really appreciate sub-categories were there is a failure condition that forces a reset. Obtaining the WHITE HOUSES alone is a challenge and with the most minor of mistake is like a coin flip away… so the skill to hit all is epic!
You mentioned in w2 we can collect multiple hammers. Wouldnt that glitch allow for a true all mushroom houses since the w3/w4 issue be resolved with an extra hammer?

I remember the original wonderment of playing this for months upon months and having these special rare rooms appear so rarely. Never knowing why they even did. Mario 3 is just so full of hidden features!
This was a fun watch. Definitely more interesting than the things that have already been done a zillion times.
Mitch should do a run where he rushes to get 99 lives as fast as possible without using infinite 1ups.
