50 Gedanken zu „Best Friends Play DmC: Devil May Cry Compilation“
  1. How to fix DmC's (and its DLC's) narrative with a little bit of inspiration from Woolie's idea: Vergil has no powers but gets absorbed by Mundus in Mission 19 like normal, with Mundus channeling Vergil's Nephilim blood for a final special phase for Mission 20. The game ends with Dante having rescued Vergil who is encased in strange material and barely responsive.

THEN Vergil's DLC (if you wanna keep a sequel hook) is Vergil still traveling through the afterlife but with no idea how he got there, only he instead meets his mother who tries to help him find what the fuck is going on. He realizes that back in the real world he's become possessed by Mundus, where his body has become Mundus Angelo (or whatever you want to call him) who is trying to unlock and figure out Vergil's Nephilim powers, with his own soul having been ejected, explaining why he can't move on since he isn't really dead. Vergil sets out to regain his body from Mundus, with Eva telling him to seek help from the angels if he needs to and/or save Sparda when he gets back, with her giving a cryptic hint of how to do those things that doesn't make sense until the hypothetical sequel.

Vergil's soul/psyche battles Mundus' for the DLC's boss battle, though the battle results in a stalemate causing their wills to fuse, making Nelo Angelo. Nelo Angelo, confused and conflicted about his past and self, vanishes from under Dante and Kat's care to go seek the angels/Sparda. Alternatively, if we can have a 2nd boss in the DLC, Dante will catch Nelo Angelo trying to leave and our final task in the DLC will be to defeat him so we can leave. This provides us with the opportunity to play as Nelo Angelo, get a Dante boss battle, AND for the sequel gives Dante a powerful enemy he needs to match in power, especially if the boss against Dante is a brutal beat down (until the higher difficulties of course).

Alternatively alternatively, I could rip off DMC5 and have Vergil defeat Mundus, with him then using the Yamato to purge the remnant of Mundus from himself, creating a weakened V(ergil) and Nelo Angelo, who is pretty much a Nephilim Mundus. With his new Nephilim powers, Nelo Angelo decides to rally his remaining forces, re-secure his connection with whatever is on the other side of the Hell Gate, maintain control over the human world, and/or take the fight to the angels. Vergil would give Dante the hint of how to a. reach the angels to connect with the remaining parts of his heritage and abilities and/or b. find Sparda and free him as a potential ally with Vergil then falling comatose.

  2. I 100%'d this game and its DLCs, though not on the definitive edition.
It's some good fun, and it was easy to separate the characters redesigns from the old for me; likely because I wasn't a fan beyond DMC4.
If you can deal with a little edgelordedness, it's like a simplified DMC.

  3. One thing the reboot did better was virgil's outfit. The original was plain and had weird features like cowboy boots and an awkward sleeveless shirt. The reboot portrayed how virgil should have looked, which is slick and clean all around(especially since his outfit gives off a "I'm superior" look).

  4. Remember Sparda, the legendary dark knight that rebel against mundus, won, spend several centuries serving as protector of mankind before settling down with a human, had twin sons and then passed away undefeated? well, now he's just a demon general that simply broke a taboo by getting together with an angel, got busted, beaten and captured to be a demon bitch.

Remember Vergil, the older of the twin sons, established as always being more powerful than Dante, power hungary yet still honorable, whole character was defined by his tragic past and is what fueled his pursuit of power? well, now he's the weaker sibling, live a life of wealth with no hardships, cant even beat a bunch of lesser demons on his own, completely dishonorable, wanting world domination for no apparent reason, and lost his first fight against dante like a pussy.

  5. I feel it would have improved the game's story if the red-faced demon was like a reoccurring antagonist throughout the game that would run away before Dante could kill it at the end of every fight. Then it would be revealed that Vergil was disguised as the demon the whole time. This would be because he knew Dante would never be on board with him taking over so instead, he just chose to appear weak and let Dante do all the dirty work while using the demon disguise to test him and prep for their inevitable fight when Dante finally found out.

  6. eesh, least you could lock on in this version, base release didn't let you at all, doesn't suddenly make it amazing or anything but they did improve some things in this version at least,

  7. I have to say even as a distant appreciator of the original games I was upset with this reboot. With all the games under my belt and now watching this……goddamn man I am pissed off watching this. This just sucks, really bad.

  8. this is a wonderful journey of: "This game has a real nasty rap of being bad, but with good combat, and the devs being oddly hostile to the fanbase."
    to
    "Oh."
"Holy crap this combat sucks, it's just mashing."
    "OH…"
    "Oh fuck, I FORGOT!!"
    And then Sadness

  9. This is the first time I actually watched the credits at the end despite watching the compilation a bunch of times, and you're telling me that bit at the end of the nightclub level with the vocals going WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU is an actual song by an actual band???

  10. I don't know WHY both parents in DmC needed to have some special shit. We knew enough about Eva in the original series as is.

Who is Sparda? He is the dark knight, a demon so insanely strong he defeated the emperor of the underworld and sealed him away while also fighting off his army of demons, thousands of years previously.

What do we know of Eva? She died to save Vergil, failing in the act, but even more than that, she was a woman so remarkable she was able to get the dark knight himself to fall for her. You gotta be somethin to have someone like Sparda settle down with you.

  11. So to answer Pat’s question of why you get an Angel weapon from the newsman, it’s because he was “Just doing God’s work.”

Honestly that’s the only actually clever joke in the game.
