I more or less understand why it's supposed to be funny, but it's definitely not my kind of humor. Maybe I'm just too old for it, but I don't think I would have found it funny as a kid either. He is so excited that he accepts the presidency of a wallpaper club and has to face the ultimate truth – he is a nerd, too. Bernd ist caputered und this strange environment and just wants to get out. Different Bernd storys are looped over and over again, telling the audience to switch to other programs.
"Bernd das Brot" was our salvation. Whenever our daughter couldn't sleep because she was ill or afraid, we sat down in the living room and watched "Bernd das Brot"… until she fell asleep. And there are at least 20 more episodes… 🤣

The children's channel finishes it's programming each evening at 9 because kids should go to bed. But the channel is still running. The programm makers decide to show loops of a Bernd the Bread video, mainly telling the children, that the programming is over and they should go to bed now. The whole night. Then magic happens. Adults come home at night from the bar and watch this loop until they fall in sleep. Imagine, program makers recognize this and start to produce night loops of bernd for adults. Such a clip you just watched. Imagine, Teletubbies for adults would run in a loop every night at BBC.
