30 Gedanken zu „Learn to Control Directional Air Roll Part 2 | Learn to Play Rocket League“
  1. Super helpful video! The biggest help for me was the ceiling drill and learning to quickly find air roll neutral. Before watching this video I had a basic understanding of directional air roll, but would often find myself getting "lost" and flailing down instead of maintain control.

Thank you for making this video

  2. I have the same problem you said earlier in the video. Im pretty decent at air roll control if im only using down or up maybe alittle to the left and right.. but it just feels like im doing ring maps without spinning, in that its not fluid. im making one adjustment at a time. most of the time it feels like left and right is useless, so im not really sure how to get those adjustments into my mind

  3. Hey griff, I’ve been been hard stuck champ with a peak of champ 3 for the past few years, I’ve decided that the reason I couldn’t reach GC was because I strictly used free air roll. So the past few days I’ve been trying to find a good video to help me learn directional air roll and every single one I’ve watched hasn’t even come close to being as helpful as this one. 15 minutes after watching these 2 vids and I’m already air dribbling using air roll left in your training pack. Just wanted to let you know how awesome these instructional vids are man keep it up 🙂

  4. I dont really get what you meant by a reference point or what you use it for at 6:40. Would you mind helping me out a little?
Ive given myself kind of a new years/new seasons resolution to learn air roll last season because ive been struggling with a lot of other tutorials, i watched your first video on directional air roll a while ago and have been practicing and utilizing it as much as I could. And I also have to say that from all the tutorials ive watched (a lot) yours were definitely outstanding and the most helpful. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work <3

  5. Not sure if you remember replying to me but thank god I watched this video, or else I definitely would have gotten into a bad habit really early on. Right now I'm trying to incorporate all directions combined with the ceiling bump drill and I'll say…god damn is it hella frustrating. But deep down I know that my brain will start to build better muscle memory as long as I keep entering fail states.

  6. I'm totally lost in RL and my very experienced friend has no clue how to help me. As of now, I'm using L1 on controller as to Air roll, but in the primitive way. Holding L1 makes my Stick inputs be the directional input to the air roll. I find myself struggling a lot in aerial control, as in I have barely any, and I'm quite often just missing a ball by inches due to having the bad habit of holding L1 and pretty much only flying in a straight line from where I started due to air rolling the entire time.

I have a directional air roll bound to triangle to recover with a half flip, and I'm comfortable with that, but what I'm sort of gathering from this video is a LOT of players are just using a directional air roll all the time so that they can manage rotation and direction simultaneously while up?

I have maybe about 300hrs stuck dia/plat, on the level of a gold player when it comes to aerial ball control / even following the ball from the wall up.

  7. Great video! I started this game using free air roll, but at around plat, I watched some YouTube videos, and decided it was worth it to start learning ARL. I used that for a year or so, but was hardly getting anywhere and decided to rework all of my controls, removing free air roll completely, and having both directionals bound so I wouldn't resort to Free air roll in awkward situations. Of course this was really tough at first, but after a few months of casual play and a little rings and recovery training I got pretty consistent with ARL for aerial plays and adjustments, and only used ARR for jumping off walls and times when it was required, but I am now realizing the benefit of using ARR in the air for a better first touch in some cases, to get more power in others, or even swapping from ARR to ARL and visa-versa can really help regain control or put you in a position the opponent would never expect. Learning a 2nd air roll is really hard when I already have pretty ingrained muscle memory for the first one but I am hoping to keep making progress on my way to complete aerial control.

One thing I really struggle with even with my dominant air roll though is when the nose of the car is facing the camera, it really throws me out of wack.

  8. PLEASE HELP ME
For years and years I have been trying to learn how to air roll but the thing is I just don’t understand the explanations, they just don’t click. So I have a couple of questions I need to get answered. The first one is imagine I want to move to the right while air rolling, do I only hold my left stick to the right when the car is facing forward or do I also hold the stick to the opposite side (left) when the car is facing backwards??? Another question I have is how do you people move so quickly from like one side to the other when air rolling it’s like you see a ball is far to the left and you just air roll and you reach the ball as quickly as if you weren’t. I feel like when I air roll I take a long time to get to the ball if it is in the air and on the left or right. This might be because I only move my stick when the car is facing forward (to the opposite net) I don’t know if I should move the stick around at all times if I want to move left. If I do have to move the stick around at all times where should I move the stick to when the car is facing at the opposite net and when the car is facing If I want to move left??? Thank you for your time.
