  2. Hey! Awesome tutorial. Everything worked for me except when I run a game, it’s a bit laggy. The audio sounds horrible! Have you ran into this issue? The same roms run fine on my pc.

    Thanks!

  3. Hello!
Great Job there! Thank you for the video.
I have a question though : is the SteamLink heating while playing retro-games? I mean more than juste streaming the computer (as normally used).
No chances to damage the SL or overheating?
    Thanks 😉

  4. I do have a quick question, I'm trying to get n64 games running (using the supplied Mupen64 core), I only uploaded two so far mario kart and 007. Mario kart runs really slow and the graphics are pixelated and in 007 once the level is loaded looks like it's falling apart. Is there a setting I have overlooked or do I need to update something within the retroarch? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Awesome video though, helped so much getting this started.

  5. I have managed to get retro arch and Usbloader onto the steam link but im having trouble in filezilla i get this error

    esponse: fzSftp started, protocol_version=9

    Command: open "root@………………………….
Error: FATAL ERROR: Network error: Connection refused

Error: Could not connect to server

I deleted my ip from this copy paste

  6. Thanks for the guide. I got NES, SNES, and Genesis on my Steam Link now. SNES is the least perfect, but that was to be expected. NES runs great. Genesis has a stutter every now & then. Now I have a reason to give away my SL as a xmas gift or something. 🙂

  7. PRO TIP : steam link does not like 5ghz SSID it will connect to 2.4ghz SSID. I ran into SSH problems and issues with the steam link rebooting when connecting to the Wi-Fi. Separating my 2.4ghz and 5.ghz SSIDs by giving them different names and only connecting to the 2.4ghz solved all issues.

  8. Thanks for the video but all the GBA games I've tried on the Steam Link run terribly slow and choppy, especially full 3D ones. How do I get them to run properly? Or
is the Steam Link hardware not powerful enough? Using Retroarch 1.8.7 & mGBA.

  9. Thanks for the video as it was very helpful! I've been able to install everything and get it to work. The only thing that I can't get to work is mounting a USB drive. I've tried putting the drive in various usb ports of the Steamlink, but Retroarch is not seeing the drive. Any advice or tips on what I can do. Much thanks!!!

  10. Hey Jeremy.
Tutorial looks great. Unfortunately I have run into an issue. Using the latest retroarch files (1.9.3 I think), I can get retroarch to install but I cannot get anything to play. Regardless if I transfer files to the onboard storage or try to mount a flash drive (mostly gba, NES, and megadrive). I update everything through the online updaters and even redownloaded a few games to be sure it wasn't my game files and nothing. I get a black screen that just says "PAUSE". No matter what I have tried it still won't go. Any thoughts?

I haven't tried an older version yet but I would think the new version should work fine right? Let me know your thoughts or if anyone has had the same issue and found a solution it would be most appreciative.

  11. Is there a fix for save files being lost whenever the console loses power? It’s been incredibly frustrating losing all progress when my console refuses to start and I have to hard reset it just to get it to turn on.

  12. For anyone reading in 2023 the tutorial can still be used to install Retroarch but USBMount seems to have been broken by an update. I've tried several different versions of USBMount and none of them allow access to a USB drive. It's really quite disappointing as the Steam Link is a reasonably capable emulation device but with it's limited internal storage and now lack of access to a USB Drive, it's sadly going to be boxed up again.
