  1. Gonna try this out tomorrow. I hate tab targetting so much as a default because sometimes it targets the enemy you want and sometimes it decides to target an enemy half way across the map that isn't even agro'd to you instead of the enemy that is directly in front of you and is attacking your healer.

  2. I use space for targeting and mouse for jumping since I can do all movement with only my mouse by holding down both mouse buttons. Mouse 4 also doubles as ascension in flight/swimming and mouse 5 is descend and submerge.

  3. how do u handle the behavior when releasing ctrl/shift/alt first on e.g. ctrl+w bind (dont release them first duh). i use the same hotbar binds and i always struggle with accidental target switch QE or canceling cast with WASD.

  4. Those are the only two keybinds you need:
objects: not helpful in dungeons or fights tbh
nearest target: not helpful for ranged players, or even tanks. You don't always only want the nearest enemy, you will want to be able to attack any enemy.
Whether it's to apply dots, charge to, increase enmity, pull mobs, etc.
I can see how these keybinds are helpful in some situations, but it's a very bad idea to favor this over learning tab cycling through mobs.
These keybinds are helpful, but extremely limiting.

  5. Closest target isn’t that great because it forces you to attack 1 particular mob unless you physically move closer to something else so that the system targets that particular enemy. I tried this out briefly but it’s extremely limiting because sometimes you will be up against 4 mobs and you may want to target 1 enemy over another but you can’t unless you move closer to it. It’s more clunky than anything,

  6. Thank fucking god… it's so annoying not being able to target whichever is in front of me during dungeons, especially as ninja when i'm trying to shoot those raitons or suitons.. Stupid shitty default tab target cycling.

  7. this seems way worse than the original keybind (which is absolutely terrible). i mean, with your method you can't actually cycle through mobs, so how do you change target without using the mouse to target? i'm currently leveling up my bard, and i like to put my DoTs on all enemies – i target an enemy, apply the DoTs, press TAB to target the next, and so on. doing it your way would just target the nearest one and then stop, no? i don't really see the point – it seems extremely limited.

i've been messing around with the targeting for a while now to try and make it smoother, but i guess i'm stuck with the shitty system :/ someone said that changing it from the default keybinding to the one below that would help, but it seemed like the exact same thing. i've tried changing it from "ignore depth" to "cone targeting", which helps in PVE, but is terrible in PVP when you've got people attacking you from all sides. why can't Square just fix their damn targeting! 😛

  8. As a healer I mainly just use 'Target the target of your current target'. Which sounds confusing but essentially it just means each press of that button either causes me to target the tank (since hopefully they always have mob aggro) or if I'm currently targeting my tank, pressing it again will let me target whatever mob the tank is focused on.

Makes it really easy to swap back and forth between doing DPS and keeping my tank alive.

  9. Unfortunately, Target Nearest Enemy can pick up things behind you. The game needs "Target Nearest Enemy in FRONT of character." Sort of like TAB if there's no current target. The CONE option is character target settings is worthless, because the cone is actually the camera view, so if the camera sees the enemy behind you of off to the side, it gets targeted instead.

  10. I agree , the only problem im having is , as a tank , if i want to get aggro from a far away mob while surrounded by enemies… sometimes the clicking works and sometimes not , at least it seems like that.
The game needs a button like tag the farest away enemy which is in combat
