The part I’ve never understood about that setup, is fast aerials. Like you’d slow down to some extent to fast aerial? Or be so fast double jumping and pulling back on the stick on the same time?

I could never understand playing any other way than this. In rvery game ever created you move with joystick and have important stuff on the triggers. I changed all my binds as soon as i got the game
Halo is a prime example of a game with joystick driving, as well as some arcade racers. Probably played with those way before Rocket League
It's this weird Halo car controls. I can imagine my driving accuracy would be absolutely terrible with this. Most illogical controls ever lol
The difference in time in switching between triggers vs going from forward to backward joystick is negligible

Does joystick driving also cause you to not be able to turtle air dribble? I’ve been using these settings for almost a year (still pretty new to the game), but never tried to turtle until just recently.
I use Rizzos Controls, but not the drive ones, Just the jump in square and boost on x, I found It easier to fast aerial than standarts, and drift and free airroll on same of course, and add directional on circle later on

Just put drive on RT. Brake on B/circle. Boost on LT. ARL & ARR on the bumpers. DAR and Powerslide on X/square. This is the optimal setup IMO
