  1. Yeah no, there is a misconception about the passing thing, i feel like i have to make a comment on that one. It's the same stance i have on mechanic's in general and to understand my viewpoint i have to explain my standpoint on mechanic's, so here i go:

Thing about mechanic's is, while they make you better at the game, they can't make you rank up, well not entirely true, they do let you rank up, but bare with me for a sec.
Getting better at game mechanic's (DAR, wavedashes, air dribbles, ground control, you get the gist), can be detrimental to your success, simply because knowing how to perform something can get you in a state off overconfidence. A player that is overconfident is more likely to go for a stupid situation. Maybe you learned to recover exceptionally fast, you go for a high aerial, recover off the ceiling and are presented with a situation you "could" go again for the ball. What makes you rank up and "better" at the game, is not the ability to do that kind of flashy stuff, it's realizing if that is actually the smart thing to do? Let's look at our mate, he sees your touch, but doesn't see you have annother play on the ball (he doesn't see you recover), by going for that play yourself, you might "force" a double commit.

So in essence, getting more confident in your ability to play the game, let's you make stupid decisions at a faster pace, makes sense? While its important to practice mechanic's, it's even more important to practice "when" to go for something and when to just leave. This makes it so your time spent practicing mechanic's isn't wasted (in my opinion).

Knowing this, the same applies to passing play's, they are essential in a game like rocket league and practicing them in actual gameplay situations the sooner the better, but, the same way knowing how to perform them, doesn't mean it's the right play to make. Assessing the situation and then coming up with a solution is so much more important than any mechanic you could learn. If it's stupid to go for a pass, because your pass is getting somewhere your opponent can easily reach before your mate, is a stupid thing to do. Yet, ppl still pass like that…

Passing plays are not overrated, ppl just dont understand the game well enought to use them effectively, even a bad pass, can be a good thing, if the decision for that pass, was a good decision to begin with, if that makes sense?

Edit: Yes i agree with redirect's, they fit perfectly within my explanation, going for a redirect usually happens while missing information around you, so you have to be absolutly sure your opponent doesn't have a beat on you, to go for a "smart" redirect and not just a "stupid" redirect, thanks for giving me a good example at the end.

  2. I like redirect training more o
For defensive training and recovery training. Controlled touches to the corner followed by a quick recovery in defensive position with a push option is nice.

  3. Passes – imbalance skill only with your regular teammates. I am grand diamond and we take so much games with my friend by using the nice passes.
But I agree that this is truly not the skill you must to train for rank-up. Passes trains automaticly with your team chemistry. If you haven't chemistry in your team (solo queue or smthg), use basics, go back, never overcommit, shot the ball well.

Nice top, Luke. As usual 😊

  4. Idk, training ceiling shots and flip resets has made my overall car control go up faster allowing me to hit double taps and air dribbles a lot easier. Pushing for a harder mechanic makes a simpler one feel easier.

  5. idk bro i can pass in champ and it works well. i dont set up a passing play, my teammate is just there and i toss it over. but i have noticed if it doesnt work it leaves your teammate in a bad position if possession is lost

  6. Luke I know you know what your talking about but this time I don’t think so pinches is THE best way to clear the ball and pass and also passes are super helpful and I also think that if you don’t just sit up field all the time and wait for a pass redirects are a really good mechanic
