DQ11 S Definitive Edtn. is my first DQ game. Just started Act 3 yesterday.
Dragon quest 8 was my first DQ…best game ever XD.
I like that in dragon quest 8, unlike every other dragon quest main character, he’s not the chosen one hero destined to save the world, there’s no God or fate in his corner guiding him. He’s just a regular dude, like he was just a standard castle guard before the events at the start occurred. Ironically makes him stand out and makes him feel more grounded and relatable.

My personal favorite is Dragon Quest 4. Best final boss, amazing characters, and its ending is bittersweet. Also I'd argue the best music.

I bet most people watching this video at best only played TEN DQ games. YES. 10. You know why? Because DQ10 doesn't count to anybody outside of Japan who doesn't understand Kanji and/or doesn't play MMOs. DQ10 probably is a good game, but it stands as the smelly turd in the corner because nobody outside of Japan has played it unless you can break past the language barrier.
DQ8 is definitely the first one i’ve ever played, by far my favorite in the series! I wish they would remaster this bad boy or just i don’t know this game was just stunning.
Dragon warrior 3 is also the prequel to DW1

The first two Dragon Quest games are irrelevant for newcomers. The only reason to play them is to learn about the franchise’s history.
Why does 6 never get love?
It is basically 3 with a better story and more to do.
To be fair I do think 3, 4, 5, and 6 are the best of the NES/SNES era and for the most part, are besides 8 and 11 are some of the best of the entire series.
History of me is I started with 1.
My personal favorites: Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest IX.

11S is the game that pulled me into the series.
I am playing yakuza like a dragon and love love love it,the main character in that talks about dragon quest a lot,so it made me curious, I got dq11s on ps4 for free on ps plus,and I am waiting to finish yakuza to gwt into that ,while doing that, decided to try some of the other dq games on mobile at work,so I checked your video, and you listed everything I can actually play ! I was so happy, but I think I will wait to start dq 11 s on ps4 and after I complete that I will do 3 4 5 and 8 on mobile ,
I remember what really got me interested in Dragon Quest 3 was an article in Nintendo Power specifically dedicated to the GBC remake. Rather than just writing about the game and how it works, they write an entire journal from the perspective of the main character. It made the game sound incredible.

I have heard about Dragon Warrior and Dragon Quest long time ago. As a kid i read somewhere in a German Gaming magazine about a Dragon Warrior game sometime back in 1994/1995. Never played a DQ game untill few years ago DQ 8 on an PS2 Emulator. Graphically it was an amazing PS2 game but i didnt like the gameplay and didnt play much maybe 1 hour.. Years later exactly about 1 Year ago i bought DQ11 and boi… I was blown away and it got me hooked to the DQ series.. I played DQ 8 after DQ11 and recently DQ 3. Its an amazing series,i will play some more titles soon.
Great vid & I was curious if you’ve played the fan translated versions of Joker 3, DQ Monsters Terry’s Wonderland & DQM 2 Cobi & Tarra on the 3DS ? The reason I ask is because I mod 3DS/2DS and I add those games for people to enjoy.
How has DQ 8 not gotten ported to the PS4?
I am almost done with dq 11, loved 8 back in the day just bought it for ps2 bargain bin for like 7 bucks and ended up falling in love. I’m definitely going to play 5, can’t wait. Not going to watch any further for spoilers. Great video!
Mostly agree, I would just trade Dragon Quest 4 and give a chance to dragon quest 9.
And yes, Dragon Quest V is the best turn based JRPG ever, no doubt.
Been playing 7 on the 3ds, it's fun and interesting…if you can get past the very slow start.
DQ8 was also my first DQ. My uncle gave it to us and it sat on our shelf for the longest of time. One day i decided to pop it in the good Ole PS2 and the rest is history. Ended up playing 4, 6, 9 all on the DS and recently beat 11 on the switch. Solid game and just the classic DQ/JRPG I love. Hearing the DQ8 soundtrack again brings back so many memories. They GOTTA bring it to the switch in a form of a remaster or something. Bring the graphics to DQ11 level, add all the content from the 3DS, and keep the orchestra arrangements and it will be chefs kiss Also making a 3 pack for 4, 5, 6 similar to what they did for 1-3 would be sick.
I find it funny how the DQ series pretty much stayed the same even though the series is well over 30 years old.

I have just today, gotten into the dragon quest games. Bought 1-3 for a very cheap price for the switch.i now want them all. I was playing shining force but the map on there was frustrating so I gave up. I love dragon quest!

They made a movie based on dragon quest 5 on Netflix never played any dragon quest game, but the movie was good
I think my top 5 is quite similar, haven't played VI and X yet so can't judge those but I would place them in the following order:
1. Dragon Quest XI (Easily the best game in the series)
2. Dragon Quest VII (Great story, I feel that it probably has the strongest story of any game in the series)
3. Dragon Quest VIII (Close to VII for me, while I feel objectively speaking it's the better game, I prefer VII for it's story)
4. Dragon Quest V (This is an experience, really unlike any other game in the series. In terms of character development the best game, although I feel some aspects are slightly dated now a days).
5. Dragon Quest IV (Way ahead of it's time, I feel IX and III could also take this spot, however IV has the better story and more cohesion throughout).

My first ones ever were Dragon Warrior Monster 1 + 2 and Dragon Warrior 3, all for the GBC. And those are still some of the best of all time.
Dq5 had such a good story, the best story I have ever experienced in my life, the music is so good, and although the monster mechanic is primitive by today's standards, recruiting an orc with full heal and multiheal was pretty useful in the final boss and the postgame boss, the game is still so good and worth the 20 to 30 hours of time, dq iv is my third favourite because the interesting story and the best pace in the series imo, overall I think that dragon quest is the best rpg and I feel at home when I play most of the time
