Can I say first for once? 😂 jks, but hope you all have a happy holiday!
Not 1st ):
my top 3 played were super mario maker 2, slay the spire, and the nintendo 64 app haha
Oh and I still think The Quarry should have won accessibility, but not as many people played it. You could literally change everything about it – the QTEs, difficulty, even just play the watch it in movie mode and make the choices when they came up, instead of exploring and playing it like an actual game. Plus you had the death rewind feature, where you can go back a limited number of times and make a different choice to save a character.
Hi guys, as always it's a pleasure to listen/watch your podcast, my most played games on Switch for 2022 were Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, Pokemon Legends Arceus and Nier Automata, so a pretty good year i should say.
Capital one shopping? Bing rewards? Etc etc (the only competition to honey. Not sassing mind you, just confused)
I suspect Nintendo will pull a Nintendo and make a new system that's not backwards compatible or hybrid and maybe try and push the switches the handheld Market
People get participation trophies so wrong – they just taught us that awards didn't mean anything and when adults told us we did well they were probably lying 🤷
My most played was Ooblets, got so into that game this autumn, it's such a cosy gem. I would love to see Steam do an 'unwrapped' style thing but at the same time I'm not sure I want to confront just how many hours I've put into Stardew Valley…
I just realized that the actor of the main character for forespoken is the same person who was the main character in the Netflix Resident Evil show. That might explain why I have no interest in the game. The show was overwhelmingly underwhelming.
So, just to clear this up because a lot of people have the wrong idea:
*Sonic Frontier was winning and had a strong lead, speculatively due to bots (which, given Geoff's acknowledgement, appears to be the case). During the third round of voting, Genshin Impact was second (by a pretty decent margin), with third and fourth place waaaaay behind.
*Sonic fans started posting weird memes and calling Genshin fans pedophiles and rapists on a variety of social media platforms en masse
*Because of how twitter, etc functions, this started coming up in Genshin players feeds- spurring people to vote for Genshin due to 1) being reminded of voting in the first place, 2) disgust at the Sonic fanbase, and 3) the fact that Genshin was the only game at that point that had any shot whatsoever at beating Sonic (which, while a good proof of concept, was objectively not a particularly good game).
*Genshin is absolutely massive in China, and those players took the insults very personally- so while the flood of votes may look like counter-bots, they weren't necessarily
Genshin's official twitter account did post a link to vote (as did Sonic's), but nothing was said whatsoever about giving in-game rewards as a bribe to vote. They have, in the past, given rewards as a result of winning an award (including awards where voting was not a thing). These rewards are very minor (basically just a couple gacha pulls, not enough to be construed as a bribe) and, in the case of the Game Awards, (unless my memory fails me) have been given just from being nominated as an acknowledgement of the players' support, as I'm pretty sure they gave players the same gift for 2020's Game Awards (which they lost). It's very likely that they would have given the same in-game award, with a different written justification, had it lost.
In general, I think a lot of people also fell into a game of telephone, where they didn't even understand in the first place that GOTY and Player's Choice are not the same award (many influencers/content creators kept referring to the Player's Choice award as GOTY). While I think a common sentiment is that neither game should have won, there is the argument that the award itself should be viewed as a proxy for player passion, and if both games were able to get the votes that they did (I'm sure Sonic had plenty of authentic votes in addition to the bots), then that is a result of said passion and thus can be said to have legitimately won.
I was hoping you would talk about the hogwarts delay. I’m super sad about it since I’m broke and can’t get a ps5. However I also know you boys aren’t into that one lol
Is Mario Kart 8 the most pervasive Switch game, as in the most common game played amongst systems and/or market demos? BotW and Smash Bros, while top-selling and/or most minutes played, probably only covers a certain demo or two so much it hardly needs broader appeal like MK8 has.
To me Crash Team Rumble looks like Knockout City, but you collect points like in Pokemon Unite
Why does the giveaway selector have to be so damn loud with the music?
Miss the live wulff bros unboxings
I exclusively play Kirby TFLand co-op with my toddler. It’s a family game at my house
I have a friend who once told me that Valve is the best video game company in terms of how inspirational their games have been and how pro consumer they seemingly are compared to other gaming companies. What do you guys think?

Bob you didnt attempt to pet the dog so the program thought you weren't human!
Robot will point dog in the direction of the finger..but humans try to pet the dog endlessly until it becomes inescapably apparent it's just not possible ..
From afar it doesn't sound like
Platinum Games writes very good stories..i just can't see myself playing anything from them..this bayonetta thing certainly isn't gonna bring me over..
Not a graphics snob but does it not look like a 3DS game to anybody else?
Will takes a strong “anti-joke” stance on the Mario movie
I agree with your Genshin Impact/Sonic Frontiers conspiracy wholeheartedly. Sonic was ROBBED!
Tinfoil hat theory about the DYKG strike:
I recall it being said (from a previous DYKG video no less) that Nintendo usually goes after fangames/content that directly compete with the games/content they have available or that they have in the pipeline for release, examples being Mario Maker, Mario 35 and the battle royale game, and Metroid Prime 2D and Metroid Dread.
Their takedown of the Heroes of Hyrule video confirms a Zelda tactics game is in development. Maybe.
Now that Bob is a PC gamer do you think he hates his own old PC master race is dead designs?
Idk I thought the game awards was pretty solid this year 🤷🏽♂️
1:38:52 just a bit of info. actually you can get storage like that on pc far as games are concerned. its a dx12 feature that Microsoft has been very slow to implement, but announced around the sametime the new xbox was. direct storage, a pcie gen 4 drive is required just like the ps5
regarding 32gb, It's about the same price that 16gb used to be (ddr4). the 1060 is the most popular graphics card for the steam hardware survey.
About DnD, well, we have to look into what’s happening with paper card game, Magic the Gathering Hasbro’s other money-making IP, to understand what do they want with DnD.
Lately, WotC, the company that made Magic, and owned by Hasbro, is under heavy fire right now because of how they monetize the game right now. It’s bad. Just recently, they release a product of 60 paper cards, for the 30th anniversary of Magic, for $1000. 60 cards, for $1000. Cards, that are made with paper, that can’t even be used for officially sanctioned tournaments. That enraged a whole lot of fans.
What Hasbro is trying to do with DnD is turning it into a money-making machine just like Magic. And if DnD is going the way that Magic does, that’s bad, very bad. Imagine having DnD game accessories, for $1000.
That Bayonetta prequel was actually already teased in a secret level in Bayo 3 where you play a segment of the new game.
Yes Will go back to the old role! "TWEET OF THE WEEK"
The best way to get into editing for me was easily tik tok and capcut. Teaches you the key basics in a super intuitive way (via mobile). I use premiere for work (sports content) but I learnt the overlaying, audio editing and more via creating tik tok content (plus guidance from my actual editor coworkers)
When it comes to the video game value conversation, I feel like many people don't recognize that gaming was somewhat of a niche hobby back then. Now that people use gaming as escapism as a sport as a career, even gaming companies have seen way more profits.
Kind of like paying slightly less but buying way more gives a company more money during a sale. Gaming companies are making way more sales by charging significantly less than they used to when they made significantly less sales. In this case, is it even fair to compare prices from now to then?
