35 Gedanken zu „Addressing my Concerns for Rocket League's Future…“
  1. I started playing properly about 7ish months ago around the summer event (I forget what it was called) after playing intermittently on a friends xbox.
I bought the game with the 'dlc' which really wasn't dlc, it was just a few additions that I reckon should've been in the game to begin with, maps especially.

I finished the season and was somewhere around gold 2/3 so I got the rewards and thought it was pretty cool. Did the same for last season, and have done this season too, and yeah, you get a sort of decent item to show off your rank for the previous season (or in some cases, several seasons back), but these days I find myself playing less and less, because it's the same maps, with the same cars, with the same chasers, and whiffers, and my own constant failure to get a set of wheels at the end, for a soft reset to happen and the next season to start 2 hours later. What's the point?
I dont feel like theres any reason for me to carry on as it's just gonna be the same in a years time if nothing gets changed/added/fixed etc and that makes me sad since I do love this game so much, despite its flaws (on top of my own).

I resonate with this video and I'm nowhere near pro, and not a content creator (yet), but I've clocked 620 hours in the game and can honestly say, up to plat at least, that I'm getting tired of it.

I hope someone high up at Psyonix reads this and has an epiphany or something and sets all the team right. Keep doing what you're doing Leth, you make the community proud.

  2. I would just like to say I would be more than happy to pay for some of the possible content and features that were mentioned in this video. I too am not interested in spending money on items anymore. But I’m mmmmmm I however would definitely be interested in spending money on new maps and game modes even if they suck or are broken. If I spent 2-5 dollars on ghost hunt I wouldn’t be all that mad when I found out it wasn’t all that great. Just saying. These ideas could help bring in more revenue

  3. I mostly jump in Hoops. For some reason I love that gamemode. I guess because you can go for nutty plays without getting punished with counter-goals all the time.
I am all in for more gamemodes…why is the Volleyball map not in a gamemode yet?
And as for RLCS…..I'd like to see not only 3v3 soccar…but also see Dropshot etc. Would be really interesting to see the pro's play these gamemodes too in the competitive scene.

  4. I REALLY Want to play your maps with my friends but a lot of them aren't tech savvy enough to set up all the required mods, or they don't want to swap out underpass because if they go back to Rumble and forget to change it back it crashes the game or it's too much of a hassle to set up all that stuff then change it back it really would be nice if we could get it in the game, even still if not that seeing psyonix put new maps in the game that aren't stdandardised just have a check box in game play or something "[X] Allow non Standard maps in playlists" then it can throw those into the rotation and it will group you up with other users that have that check box marked.

  5. I just thought of a cool idea, have workshop maps like yours, dribbling overhaul, etc. in the game as you say. However, make it possible to do it with other non collision players like CS:GO surfing maps or b hopping maps. It would be so fun to race with your friends and other players!

  6. My, my, how things change in a week. Dallas World Championships cancelled due to the Coronavirus and Psyonix announces dropping support for Mac and Linux versions. I'd say your concerns are valid.

  7. imagine if they brought mid-season madness back! That was so much fun to watch. For the people that don't know it was basically RLCS teams playing everything but normal rocket league. There were crazy mutators, a lot of non-standard maps and stuff. It was so much fun.

  8. RL's future is fine if they put the cars into a GTA type open world. Need story mode with destructible environments. Going through skyscrapers, bouncing off buildings and using Rumble style weapons to do battle with the other Rocket Cars would do wonders for RL. Put Arenas throughout the map a lá Pokemon to compete when not searching and battling for Chests hidden in the game waiting to be discovered. I think this is a good
    start.

  9. Dang 900 comments, who knows if you’ll see this Leth. Great ramble lol.

I started playing Rocket League because my brother downloaded it when it was still free on PS4. I remember my friends getting hyped about it so I thought I’d give it a shot. I probably played a few games. Thought it was so so, won some and lost some. I was surprised that it felt like I was playing against players with a similar skill level to me (minus some smurfs). Can’t say I lasted too long, thought it was tough to control the car and that the game had limited potential.

Then I saw my first YouTube video. It was some JHZER freestyle Friday vid and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I didn’t start playing again thinking “oh yea I could probably do that” but instead “I need to learn how to get that good.” Since then I’ve been grinding ever since. I’m still not the greatest but I have enough play time to be proud. Always been watching the good YouTubers since.

Over time, I started watching ur vids religiously. I thought that ur control was godlike, and the maps u started to come out with were incredibly creative (also fellow Canadian here *cough*). You brought something new to rocket league. not just sick outplays, you showed that there really could be more to rocket league. If I imagined you leading Psyonix, I think the game would be a lot more volatile and you’d always be excited to log in and see what’s new.

Keep up the great work man, you’ve been sent to us by the Rocket League Gods

  10. I wish for a game mode (like Hoops/Rumble etc.) which allows to queue for Tokyo Underpass matches ONLY.

I used to not like Tokyo Underpass until recently before they removed it.

Back in the day, it took me 3 mins to get used to the map, then i had 2 mins of decent gameplay, then the match ended and until i got thrown into that arena again, i totally forgot how to play it. IF i play Rumble and get thrown into that map, i love it so much. There is so much cool stuff these ramps allowed you to do and the higher ceiling always seemed like a plus to me.

Just rotate through the special modes, remove Hokey for a Season and try Tokyo Underpass instead. See what people love to play and make those maps stick around while removing the least played one to bring back one of the others or get a new one in.

  11. Love hearing your thoughts about state of RL! Can’t agree more. For myself this last year I get up to 5-10 hrs a week and grinding ranked (with some warmups in free play and training packs) and just barely reaching GC in some seasons.. If I’m tired of solo-queue ranked soccar (have no friend as try-hard as me) I go to ranked hoops because I love ball sports, and didn’t at all got the same feeling with the last year temporary game modes as when hoops first appeared many years ago 🙂 was Volleyball something last summer? Think I missed it. But watching this video makes me motivated to just practice dribbling. So for me it is just as you say, pro content-creators make me want to get better and okay the game more, and when I am in the game, I spend those credits for the premium rocket pass, and the fennec because they’re there and I want to support the game..

  12. We had other maps, remember Wasteland, Neo Tokyo and Starbase. Ppl hated it so loud, Psyonix took em out. A pitty…
On the other hand, thank god RL is not a bit like LoL. Imagine ppl could buy a car that is just a lilltle faster. That would be moment I'd instanly after years and over 2000h of gameplay.

  13. Leth you have touched at an issue that is extremely near to my heart and that I have been thinking a lot about lately. The point you made about the paywall and youtubers bringing people in to the game is exactly me. I held off for three years on this game because it looked strange and I wasn't willing to spend the $20 on it. Finally got it on sale in October 2018 and thought it was a fun game to play with friends but nothing special. But then my friend introduced me to sunlesskhan's 3v3 rotation guide in the why you suck series. And then I got introduced to Squishy's youtube channel. And then I got introduced to the RLCS. And then I got introduced to JZR and the freestyle community. In a heartbeat it was as if a whole other world was opened up to me. This silly car soccer game transformed into a game of mechanical brilliance with unlimited potential and possibilities. It transformed into a true sport with unbelievable depth and strategy. I came to this realization because of people on YouTube and haven't stopped grinding since.
2100 hours later and still in love. In that time I have probably given Psyonix at least another 60 dollars through items and the rocket pass on a game I only originally spent 5 dollars on.
Also in that time…. The only piece of content that has been added to the game that is still in the game as of writing this is the forbidden temple map. THAT IS IT
Why do we have to rely on the community for basic training tools and quality of life features through bakkesmod. Why is it that every time there is a new update nothing is actually added but the game completely breaks and bakkesmod is disabled making the problems with the game even more glaring. Why do we have to rely on the community and incredible people like yourself to make extra maps and game modes to keep the game fresh and exciting. Why are people on console just screwed and will never be able to experience the true potential of this game.
We have every right to be upset because it seems like we have FAR MORE passion and love for this game than anyone at psyonix does and that is incredibly depressing. They simply see our love and passion as a never ending supply of revenue to be milked.
If this game ever dies there will only be one group of people to blame

  14. Man you make me wanna get your coaching then just sit and chat about RL and life n shit not even play. I just agree with you so much on a lot of this it'd be nice to have someone to talk with about it all

  15. At about 600 hours I haven't found RL to have gotten dull yet, I think because I can see slow consistent improvement in my skill. But I still think a lot could be done to continually freshen it up, and allow more options and community involvement. And I know for me going free to play would do a lot for my enjoyment of the game. I would love to play this game with my friends, but even the twenty dollars is a hard sell for them, because the game looks really simple to them. But if they could just give the game a real try with a free to play model then they'd be able to see the depth and complexities and that this really is a competitive game.

  16. You're my favorite youtuber. Your maps really keep Rocket League fun and help with breaking up the monotony of grinding rank. Thank you for supporting the game where psyonix is lacking. I'm not saying that they are just money grabbing, but all the new "content" are just items for sale, exemplified by their item store.

  17. I just solo queue ranked all day until I can't stand being shouted at anymore then I go into freeplay or custom maps to practice. Then I jump into ranked again and get shouted at abit more. Very fun game but hard to keep cool, would love the censoring to be in ranked and not party chat.

  18. They have to turn this type of stuff into mini games. They need timed modes, bonuses leaderboards, and rankings for maps/mini games. Think of like the game series “trials”. Then people would get sucked in.
