These are some good points, but i'd say that this is kind of a bad way to summarize these aspects of the game, because the whole ball chasing as a thing is so loosely defined that these don't apply a lot of time to what people would consider ball chasing.
I do see that this is more catchy of a title, but as a tip video it would make more sense to come at this from a different angle.
Nice video! I definitely like your angle on ball chasing and explaining that there are in fact times you should ball chase, but like all things it must be balanced
In the beginning, the way you say “ball” I kept hearing “bull chase” 😂😂
Its all about instinct, the second you doubt yourself is the second you make a clear, goal, or pass akward for yourself. So ballchasing gets rid of this akwardness, but, too much of it can result in ruining set shots for your teammates. Always know when your teammates will challenge and when they wont, and if they wont thats when you might want to chase. Ballchasing should be more used for making enemies weak on defensive rotations to help make it easier for your teammates. Coming from my experiences as a C3-GC
Who's here from Reddit? Cool video, I subscribed! Keep it up!
did you get a new mic
Playing a lot of 1v1 naturally gives you all of that
It gets a bad rap because the term implies a lazy or dumb strategy. In reality it's forcing aggressive play, which has some very obvious benefits. A lot of players can be timid or passive, which can lead to them getting stomped by less technically skilled players purely because those less capable players were far more aggressive, and took every opportunity that arose. Players get upset with their teammates because there's a fine line between this aggressive play, and going too far. Without pushing that boundary though, without testing the limit and being aggressive (and 'ballchasing'), ranking up into GC is increasingly unlikely.
Sweet! I'm going to play right now and chase so many balls
actualy I agree i made it from Gold 3 to Dia 2-3 in one season and makes me better and faster in general (reactions, aerials, challenges) and improvement can be aplied on standard tactics
But this is not ball chasing? – A ball chaser is a person going for ball no matter what, not checking positions of anyone.. Simply see the ball engage the ball.. perhaps drooling while doing so.
Yeah ball chase piss your team off make them sit and watch you go left and right untill the ball flys over your head and they see no reason in helping your sorry ass
So this is the reason every ballchaser is up against me in 1v1's
The fine line is.. if you're hitting the ball in the direction towards your own goal equal times then you need to rotate into defense more.
I feel that people who defend ball chasing have never played football/soccer or any other ball sports, you’ll never see any real soccer game where a player is constantly chasing the ball all over the pitch, team sports are all about positioning and rotation to cover position etc, nothing more annoying that having a clear shot on goal just to be rammed by your ball chasing, goal stealing team mates. I feel people are more concerned on getting a good score on the game and trying to be the mvp rather than playing a good rocket league match. On the rare occasion when I get teammates who understand how to play team sports I get some ridiculously high scores and matches are a blast to play, but when I’m just trying to carry my ball chasing rammer team I can score 5 goals and my score isn’t as high as when playing with people with half a brain, oh and I’ve playing the game for like 2 weeks, Seriously is not that hard ball chasers.
